Some gundam models could work out well, I saw a Zaku painted up right to go with a DKoK army and it looked like it was supposed to be there.
Dreamforge has some good ones but all in all your still going to be looking at around $100 for a model that size.

Transformers. There are some good options in the Generations line that could work. Browse them on Amazon; Deluxe Class Whirl could work, and Blitzwing is another one with a blade and big gun.

I'm a little dissapointed that the price is so high, and there is only like three spures to the box. The legs are not posable, the joints are fixed... Still getting them though.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

From the knights thread in 'news & rumours':
How about this as a base for a chaos knight:
it's 150mm high (ie about 6") & costs £39.99 + P&P (unless you spend over £75).
Therefore for the price of one GW knight you can get 2 stand-ins & enough left to get a large McD's meal!

Sorry couldn't get the url of the larger picture - you'll have to visit the site for a better picture.
What I like is that it has a chainsword & a gun which could easily be considered a thermal cannon. + it's cheaper than a DF walker.
Don't know what the quality is like though but might have to pick up a couple.
Figured it out!

The dream forge leviathans are the most commonly cited ones but the 28mm is too big and the 15mm is to small!

There's a link embedded in his quoted post, Niiai. Cost is 40 GBP or roughly $67 USD. Still a chunk of change, but it's quite reasonable for a large model - slightly under half the price of the GW Knight kit, as stated.

I would honestly go straight to Kotobukiya's range of super detailed Armored Core models. They clock in at about $50 including shipping, are significantly larger than a Riptide, and come with swappable weapon systems that look totally badass. There's even one called UCR Vengeance that has this enormous chainsaw array, something like 6 or 8 articulated chainsaws that just scream "Strength D".

Here are a couple of (slightly) undersized possibilities. Probably also hard to find...
Armorcast Towering Destroyer Knight is 6.5" tall to top of head.
Will get comparison pics up when my GW knight arrives.
Resin Dreamforge 5.5" limited edition Crusader:
MechWarrior Dark Age Forestry Mech. Weapons are right! Could be the civilian (unmilitarized) version that the 40K knights were developed from. Needs an armored head and some GW style shoulder pads.
