Good evening Dakka.

I'm pretty much new to the miniature painting competition scene. With this showcase I hope to show you guys more of my work and get some motivation.
So, for my first post I thought I could share with all of you my last miniature: Capt. Elias.




As usual, no airbrush. I had a lot of fun with this guy and learned quite a lot. I have to thanks Mathieu Fontaine(Akaranseth) for his C&C and these great pictures!

Damn, that's one pimp lookin Space Marine. Your shading is thoroughly excellent.

Barney's a horrible magenta, this fella's rocking awesome lilac/violet. Astonishing work, not much else to say than that really.

I thought this thread was about something else entirely... I'm a bit disappointed, though you have done an excellent job painting that marine.

Anyone else feel really bummed? I can't even enjoy how awesomely that's painted, hahaha.

I assume he has painted things before, just not the 40k side of it. I lack any way to improve, amazing paint, good conversion work.

There is a little misunderstood. It's more like whalemusic360 said; I've been painting before, but more seriously for last 3 years to be precise. But I'm ''new to the scene'' in a way that I never really shared my work at all before and really hope to change this.

Beyond epic, 10/10

@whalemusic360: That is a really cool idea, thanks. Got a lot of upcoming projects for the next GD USA (If there's one...) and for GenCon as well. But I'm a VERY slow painter. On the other hand tho.. I also have a monthly painting challenge with my friends to build a WHFB army. Only have my Iphone 4 to take pictures but it should do the job..

TT painting plus GD painting in one place sounds like a winner to me.

Looks pretty good! I might go back and tone down the highlight on his left side of his backpack a bit (the silver highlight on the bronze, that is), as it's a bit broad and poorly blended compared to the rest of the work on him. The snow grains on his feet look slightly out of place as well, although I think that's just a problem of scale for the most part.

Other than those two nitpicks, I think that's the most criticism I can muster for this guy. Great job!

Very impressive! The Armor certainly looks airbrushed, so props to you, those natural gradients must have taken a very long time!

Agree with Bottle, looks airbrushed. Very impressive that it's not and you still managed to highlight in that way.

I can definitely see Fontaine's influence in the painting style.

It's very well done. The base is a bit rough, but a sleet/sludge effect may have been what you were going for rather than a fresh snow look.

Oh I didn't mean it that way at all, you can just definitely see that you took inspiration or influence from him. He is a definite advocate for very strong colours and great blends.

I think his face looks a bit overcontrasted/overshaded but other than that fantastic job!
