I have heard and read a couple times on here that the Burning Chariots of Tzeentch of Chaos Daemons don't work at all with the rules.

While I'm not arguing how effective of a unit it is - I feel like I"m missing something since I am reading the Daemons codex and the FAQs and I don't see how people are saying the unit is completely unusable because of the rules.

What am I missing that makes the unit truly unable to work in 40k?

The weapon on the chariot is fired from the embarked model. If the chariot moves, the flamer can not be shot.

If the weapon was the vehicles, or if they gave the embarked model relentless, it would fix that.

I still don't completely follow. While their best weapon is the Pink Fire (which is a Heavy Template and thus cannot be snapped), the blue fire is just Heavy D3 and would be able to be snapped. Is there something preventing this as well?

It needs to be stationary to fire basically.
If you move at all you're limited to the snap shots you mentioned.
Relentless would only help if the Chariot moved no more than 6"

Just the quesiton of "Why have the Pink fire as an option if you never get to use it?"

Its not that it breaks the rules. the rules break the model and make it very ineffective.

If you're okay spending however many points to snap-fire blue fire of tzeentch every turn, then more power to you, but simply put its not worth it, especially given how easy it is to eliminate the chariot.

I am having an argument with my friend, he is saying that the exalted flamer is part of the chariot crew, and as such part if the chariot. How can I disprove him?

Pretty sure the chariot's rules say that it is an embarked model that dies if the chariot does and cannot actually disembark, but I'm not 100% on that.

Because the Exalted Flamer is listed as being a passenger.
