Still have metal models, their e-codex is pretty good by most people's estimations, and there are rumors of metal stock being relocated/recycled, which means plastic sisters is a distinct possibility.

Well, I play Tau (admittedly not the most competitive list but reasonable in a non-tournament context), and got utterly destroyed by a guy playing a 1000 point Sisters army and 500 points of genestealers (last minute snap decision, "hey want to play at 1500 points instead? I planned on testing out my Sisters but I've got some Tyranids laying around as well.")

So basically they're capable of laying the beatdown on Tau with a 50% points deficit

(under very specific and most likely unrepeatable circumstances. Don't take this as any guarantee of your personal performance. Dementedwombat is not responsible for any losses, rage, arguments, or disbelief associated with the above statement)

Beautiful models [I love the metal models and don't want plastics/failcast] and a pretty flexible codex with only a couple of duds in the Elites section. Ally in Inquisition and there's even more builds [I love my Landraider DCA star]. Having said that I'm not a competitive player, usually playing 2v2 fluffy/narrative games. However I did beat my mate's Eldar in one of the few 1v1 games I've played.

People complain that they are expensive, but Ebay helps to mitigate and they're not really that expensive compared to some of the prices for plastics now.

Plus, nuns with guns? Yes, please.

I hear that the general rule is that the smaller the point total is, the better they fare...
Refer to my signature for proof

2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)

Well, first things first, this army has the most beautiful and detailed minis you can currently find in the GW range. Not to mention the minis will actually be worth something in 5+ years.

Don't expect to win a lot of games. It's a very tactically challenging army.

On the positive side, these nuns can put an insane amount of dakka/melta/templates on the board. And, well... that's all.

The Sisters are a sub-MEQ force, with sub-par Strength, Leadership, Toughness, no ATSKNF, no chapter tactics. And they are only marginally cheaper than vanilla marines. You can also see the as a über-guardsmen force, with BS4 and 3+ save.
The Emprah helps you if there's a Heldrake on the board...

The weapons choices revolve around the Holy Trinity : melta, bolta, flama. These weapons works well, but you really want to get close to your opponent. Unfortunately, being close involve actually getting close, which can be done with your Rhino or footslogging. Good luck.
Not to mention being close involve sometimes being involved in actual close-combat. And as mentionned earlier, you've basically have guardsmen with a better ballistic skill and armour save.

This army works like any glass cannon : get close to your opponent. Kick him in the balls. If he's still standing, things will get ugly.

Sisters of Battle have good HQs, awful Elites, mediocre Troops, and some fantastic Fast Attack and Heavy Support. They're a tactical challenge, and utterly lacking a lot of really important weapons. (Like AA, for example.)
A skilled player with the appropriate allies can cause a lot of havoc with them.

Repentia got a lot worse because of key changes to their Feel no Pain. I miss being able to use them even somewhat effectively. Now they're just sad and sitting on my shelf.

The Sisters do best if you play the mission more than your opponent's army. That is to say not to engage the enemy, just do so for the purposes of bettering your standing in the mission.

Needless to say Purge the Xenos is a hard one to win for Sisters because they tend to either end up out ranged or when they're in range, getting punched in the face by short range, assault based armies.

And always use lots of terrain. An army like Sisters needs a terrain heavy board to balance out their weaknesses properly. Never play on Planet Cueball against a gunline, it'll just end poorly for you.
