I think I have settled on a fun semi-competitive list at this points level that lets me use my Khorne units, now I'm trying to devise a very competitive list. I've come up with this, let me know what you think..

1500 Pts - Chaos Space Marines Roster

Lose the 2nd HQ, 3rd Plague Marines. You need Heavy Support, and a cultist ball to cheaply hold the back field objective.

I know your going for fluff. How about this. Get the forge world death guard conversion and put it on a havoc squad. just an idea. I would also get an aegis with a quad gun for flyers. Heldrakes can anti air. but that's not their job.

I always use the forge world boxes bud, even for my plague marines, question is, are havocs better or oblits?

Well oblits offer greater versatility. They can sit back and fire gak or they can deep strike in and melta/flamer gak.

If you have a specific role in mind for your HS, take havocs as they have better DPS

If you want more firepower in general, take oblits.

The reason people tend to prefer oblits from what I've seen is because in Codex: Nurgle the whole army is bolter/plas plague marines and heldrakes, so they need some versatility to round out their list
