I got the battle for macragge from a yard sale and I wanted to know should I play as space marines or tyranid. I'm new so any help would be great. I don't have lots of money 115 if you could give me a army list that would work with my price that would be great codex included.

Well, I play Nids, so I am a little bit less than Neutral Nids of course! Now "for reals", Space marines can build you a decent army, and you should be able to get figures (used) cheaply. They are not considered "top tier" right now, but things can change.

Nids were considered "meh" till the second dataslate sparked some enthusiasm. No reason to think SM won't experiance the same. SM's also get a wide range of allies, and that also helps hold cost down, as a small lot on E-bay can turn into a sturdy part of your army.

No matter which you choose, you can swap the others for more of what you go with, win, win!

If you don't have lots of money, Space Marines are probably the cheaper option. Tyranids are a reasonably expensive army to collect.

As someone who collects SW and 'nids, I find 'nids more interesting, as there's so many MEQ armies out there (armies that are based around Ws4, Bs4, S4, T4, 3+ save models with bolters).

Easiest answer is Space Marines, since they're the quintessential "newbie" army. So you'll likely have an army of them anyways. The next question is which of these visuals appeals more to you:

1) Superhuman warrior knight-monks clad in power armor marching across the battlefield bringing righteous fury to the enemies of Mankind, chanting litanies to the Emperor and unwavering in their faith.

2) A horde of insect-like aliens descending on a planet, ignoring any and all casualties and devouring everything in their path like a swarm of hyper-advanced locusts, leaving nothing but a barren wasteland that is uninhabitable in its wake.

Answer that, and you will have your answer Would you rather play the Terrans or the Zerg (to use a Starcraft analogy)
