recintly i've become very interested in the Emperor's children legion, mainly playing them very assault.
looking through 3 different space marine codices (plain, dark angels, Horus heresy 1) looking for a way to pull of a at lest semi- competitive army list focused around the emperors children. I'm fine with both traitor and loyal, but not straight chaos (not a noise marine spam).
the main focuses
- assault (this is a big issue, 6th ed it isn't that great, but I want to pull it off).
- lascannons. following fluff they use things like lascannon dreadnoughts and lascannon devs, i like the ideas but both of these units are super expensive and not that tanky.
but I'll need to have some melta in the army to deal with land raiders and the like, how can I put this in without looking out of place.
I also don't mind which codex I use, though I haven't seen the blood angels, grey knights or space wolfs.
also I would like taking librarians so I normally cut black temples out but sometimes would take them, and say bye bye to the librarian.

any comments would be a great help.

Noize marines are not a bad option but not the best you can get. They're actually one of the best shooty meq you can get cause of sonic blasters. But if you're assaulty-oriented...

I can suggest a few assaulty options:

1. Marines in a landraiders. That's actually the only real way to make assaulty marines rather effective. Plague marines are best there but probably regular marines with mos+ioe will work. Even better than assaulty noizemarines cause you can take melta + multimelta - you'll really need those. On the other hand, noizemarines can get a s5 ap3 template which has it's uses also. They might be good for a retinue to a chaos lord. Not as great as plague marines + nurgle lord but still pretty good.

2. Bikers. MoS bikes with an icon are probably as good as nurgle bikes - a bit more expensive though. Will work with a bikersorc. Not as frightening as nurgle spawns with a bikersorc but still.

3. Slaanesh raptors with ioe and jumppack indep - be it sorc or lord. They're not as good as bikers but look really cool. Playable but rather mediocre.


Lascannons...las-pred is your best bet for lazcannons. Las-hellbrute is not great but probably doable. Hellbrute is not great with any weapon in 6 ed, so...
