I am selling up my Grey Knights in favour of Necrons as I'm tired of facing space marines,,, as space marines.

I am looking to buy the below list but am cautious of wasting money or buying units I won't use. I am after opinions on if I'm heading in the right direction to start me off.

20x warriors
10x immortals
1x ghost ark
3 x Barges
2x scythe
6x Wraiths
Anrakyr the traveller

That is a very good start. Depends what you are trading in return...

Not so much a trade. More of a fresh start. The above list is all new.

Everything looks good, you will use everything you have there. I would look at the necron battle force as it gives you an arch, I would magnetize(it's a heck of a pain in the ass but in my opinion worth not buying the same model six times , 3 ghost archs and 3 doomsday) scarb bases, 20 man warriors, and immortals. All of which you will use.

One thing I will say, anrakyr... I do not find him useful one bit. I have played a lot of necron and never seen him make his points back. He has a warsythe and an invuln but that's about it. A standard lord is much more flexible and cheaper for what he does.

A standard overlord I should say.

Well, I'd take 20 Warriors, 10 Immortals, 3 Night Scythes, 3 Annihilation Barges, 12 Wraiths, and 1 DLord to begin with.

I am not sure about the character(As I never use them) but the rest looks solid. It is quite close to what I have myself and I have a great time with it.

One thing I am noticing the more I play is how amazing the generic warriors are in large groups. Their ability to soak up fire and then just stand back up and their Gauss just glances vehicles to death. I normally play 2 squads of 16 warriors. I attach a Res-Orb, Warscythe Lord to one. In a desperate manoeuvre I even charged an Ork 20 man blob with a group of 16… They held their own due to all the resurrecting

For my final list I am thinking

40x warriors
20x immortals
2x ghost Ark
3x Barge
2x scythe
6x wraiths

I will add more wraiths when I have a little more budget and removed the Anrakyr in favour of an overlord.

That's solid, you will have great flexibility with those models. Eventually you may want a unit of death marks or if you're going forgeworld sentry pylons are cool. You can proxy the standard overlord for anrakyr and if you find a situation where you think he works by all means get the model. But you'll always use the overlord, if you're try to save money each one of your barges comes with one holding a warsythe.

I also second the sentiment about the warriors, In my army I run them in 505 bricks being 30 warriors and a ghost arch 10 in the arch and 20 on the ground, people will poor fire into the warriors as it's your only scoring unit kill 12-16 of them, then watch in horror as 6-8 get back up and then a further d3 are resurrected.

Good luck, have fun. I have a special place in my heart for these little try hard robots. And remember there is no right answer.

Thankyou so much for your advice. I think I am set on this. I will head into my local GW store and by an overlord. The rest I buy online because paying double the US price in Australia is a joke.

with barges you get a standard overlord in the box. so ull have 3 that can proxy anyway... so no need to buy an overlord

so as for the chacater I wouldnt bother.

I'd pretty much second this. As a side note, I'd also say don't dump your Grey Knights just yet. Just save up and gather the 'crons slowly. I've always regretted selling one of my armies. Getting ~50% retail on them, blowing the money and them missing them the next time they get a new 'dex really sucks.

I doubt that I will regret dropping my grey knights. They are cool but I play against ultramarines blood angels space wolves and grey knights to often and it gets boring. Feels like i'm playing myself. Nobody around here chooses anything but space marines although 1 guy has Orks which were my second choice after Necrons.
