Hello everyone, I'm looking for some constructive criticism for my list. Our local league is moving into its middle range and where originally there was no allies, no fortifications, and no supplements/forgeworld/anything other than base armies, now the limits have been more relaxes to allow supplements, allies, and fortifications. My list as it stands is:

Farseer /w Spear, Jetbike, Spirit stone (rides with bikes)
Warlock /w Spear, Jetbike (Rides with bikes)
Spirit seer (With wraithguard)

Wrathguard /w wraith cannons
2x 10 man Guardian /w Bright Lance platform
3x Wave Serpent with TL SL, SC, HF
6x Windrider jetbikes /w 2 SC

7 Warp Spiders

3x War walkers /w 2x BL
3x War walkers /w 1 SL 1 Starcannon.

I ran against a rather tough list yesterday with Necrons and allied space wolves in drop pods. It was a hard fought game and I lost it narrowly in the end. As the league is relaxing its restrictions, I'm wondering if perhaps I should look into some list alterations. Possibly ally with Iyanden supplement, or a ADL for flyer dakka.

What are your suggestions now that I have access to/will be facing allies, fortifications, and supplements? My only restriction is I'd like to keep it Eldar if possible. I have a number of eldar models but nothing for Tau or any other army.

Suggestions?

You actually have nothing that allows you to ally with Iyanden, but getting an aegis would be great, if you put a wave serpent and it's occupants behind it the serpent has a 3+ for jiggling in place. Consider taking the Warlovk on foot to conceal the guardians baby sitting the aegis, 2+ cover that way.

I do believe your list is illegal, as you have 3 serpents but only 2 units that can take them.

And in answer to your question above, the agies line will benefit most your army with the 4+ cover.

How in the world would a Wave Serpent gain 3+ cover behind that short wall? I'd love for that to work, but I very much doubt it. The skimmer base puts the hull above the ADL.

So, Suggestions? I'm getting ADL is a good idea, but that alters significantly the mobility of the list.

ADL gives 4+ to any model behind it, Holo-fields boosts your cover save if you move (any cover not just jink)

It actually does cover it. Tiny wall times 4 covers the hull of the serpent.
Tank has to be 25% to get cover.
multiply wall times 4, and it covers serpent, so it gets the cover

My only problem with getting an ADL is getting something to man the Lascannon I'd be getting with it, which means putting some dark reapers on the gun, which creates a stationary component of my army which is otherwise rather mobile.

For anti air take quad over las, the static portion of the list is okay because it can act as bait for your opponent, they well act in a certain way because the only thing they're sure of is where that dark reaper squad will be. Dark reaper. Exarch with fast shot is a good thing on that quad gun, 5 shots over 4 steeply increases your abilities. Add to that a bs5 and it's very reliable

The thing is I have plenty of Str. 7 shots. I don't have many str 9 shots. Plus, 2 Str 9 AP 2 BS 5 shots at 96 inches is a little more valuable to me than 5 Str 7 AP 4 at 48 with twin linking.

You are still more likely to knock the flyer out with quad gun due to twin linked. It's ultimately up to you.

Right, so ADL is a good idea. What should I drop to take that and the reapers with Starshot missiles and the exarch with fast shot and night vision?

My apologies I missed the WG unit (was expecting them after the guardians).

No problem.

The main issue I'm running into here is how do I take an 85 point minimum ADL with gun and a 5 man reaper squad with exarch with fast shot and nightvision with my current setup. I'm thinking I might have to drop a wave serpent and guardian squad, but then I don't have anything to support the reapers if they get outflanked/drop pod in their face/assaulted.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are,

1) drop Wg unit +160
2) drop spiritseer +70
3) drop serpents Sc

That's the exact amount, though you now need a min unit for the third serpent, you can get a min unit of guardians by dropping 2 spiders, dropping SS from seer, and dropping the BL platforms from the 2 guardians units.

An alternate view, those War walkers are expensive and fragile. If I'm running the numbers right, you've got 420 points put into AV10 vehicles. If you were to dump those teams, you could not only pick up two fire prisms, but also have another 140 points left over. Then drop the guardians down to Dire Avengers for 45 more each, and that gives you 230 points to play with. With those points, pick up a Crimson Hunter for some heavy hitting AA and do what you want with the last 50.

So you're going to take from 12 AV 10 HP that get a 5+ and can still fire to 3 AV 10 HP that get a 5+ if he's willing to snapfire? Plus if anyone bring any interceptor shots it's dead before it ever shoots, or at the least is snap firing all it's shots.

That's a loss of 2 lance shots at BS 4, a squad of 5 str 10 instant death possibility weapons, 9 str 6 pseudo-rending shots at BS4 usually TL, T6 scoring unit and a buffing HQ for them for 8 str 5 AP3 shots/ 4 Str 8 AP3 shots and 2 Str 9 AP2 shots. I feel like that's not really a significant exchange in my favor.

Coming up with something to toss out. Give me a bit.

Well there is the deal,

1) S10 possible Id at 12" range
2) 9 S6 maybe rending will be hitting on "6"s
3) T6 is cool but a helldrake or tau missiles don't care.
4) buffing HQ that really only benefits wraith units, which in this case you would be dropping.

For the option includes 5 reapers agies with lascannon,

1)10 S5 Ap3 shots at 48" range
2) 5 S8 Ap3 shots at 48" range
3) A 4+ cover save for anything 3" behind it (that's how its played at my LGS)
4) A S9 Ap2 92" range shot with interceptor and skyfire.

So the war walkers like defense lines, with a farseer the reapers can ignore cover (in addition to jinks which are a type of cover saves) and be twin linked.

NO. Putting an additional 6 AV 12 HP with a 4+. Not to mention two 60" S:9 AP: 1 Lance. And those 3 AV 10 HP are going to have Hard to Hit (because frankly, the field should be clear of Skyfire swiftly with two Fire Prisms) And with hard to hit, you won't need to bother with evasives. Oh, and just for a cherry on top, reroll to pen against flyers.

From his posts I got that he doesn't like the Crimson Hunter at all. I had the same opinion at the start, but after buying it for its gorgeous model and trying it out a few times, it's been great. He does however, require you to adapt your army to having him.

At 1750+ I always take two crimson hunters, just because they will each kill an enemy flyer each turn, and after that 4 S8 Ap2 half of them being lances, makes great AT as well.

Well now the points have been upped to 2000.

I could fit in a wraithknight... or I could do swooping hawks... or I could do the reapers and the ADL.

Leaning on the reapers or the knight. Suggestions?
