So, I really can't figure this one out. The book never lists a cover save, and there's really not much to compare it to. The other buildings had to have an FAQ to say that their save was 4+, not 3+, insinuating that it would give 3+ otherwise. But no save is listed, and no fortification type is listed... I'd lean towards 3+, but I wanted a group consensus.

Discussed here.

And still on the first page.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

This one has a poll. I can never get a clear consensus without a poll, it just turns into 4 or 5 people arguing.

You missed an option on the poll then. "Unsure".

If you're unsure, then don't respond to the poll.

It comes back to the whole its a pain in the ass terrain piece with incomplete rules to make it work.

Im of the opinion that top is open ground as per it its entry in stronghold.

but the bottom pillars could confer a 4+ as its mostly structural and not a fortified type (reinforced ferocrett and stuff).

and the leafs, the closest thing to what it seems to be is the ADL which id say give it the 4+ and a 4++ when up.

It's a reasonably solid object without additional rules, so by fairly extensive precedent it should be agreed upon to confer a 4+ cover save in the event it covers >25% of a model.

The Rule as Written is a mess.

I would give it a 4+ personally, that seems to be the default for most cover that doesn't have some sort of 'ignore 25% obstruction' rule.

Is this RAW or HIWPI for the poll?

Because the answers can be different depending on that. On that fact alone this poll is already useless as some may have answered RAW, and some may have answered how they would play it...

You should ALWAYS leave an unsure/other/no opinion option. You're always going to have people who just want to click buttons on a poll, and giving them an outlet will help your results. It's also a very good idea to include the 'other' option, since there's always the possibility that there's an answer you haven't considered. (Even when you think that there's no POSSIBLE way that could be the case.)

In any event, personally I'd lean towards 3+, but I'd never push the issue in a friendly game. I think most people would probably play it the same as battlements, as a 4+.
