Ok dakka I got an interesting one for you. I am building my max size Eldar List (Which is coming up to near 14,000 after all wargear is purchased). I was looking at the Avatar of Khaine and the rules say "Only one Avatar of Khaine may be taken per detachment."

So does this mean in a double FOC you could have 2?

And how many FOC would you have in a 14,000 point Apoc game?

BTW the Avatar of Khaine is not an Independent Character

Ok So i Found in my book that APOC has no force org chart. So You can have as many detachments as you want? meaning I could run 20 Avatars of Khaine if I so chose?

In apoc there simply is no foc all you need a warlord and the rest is up to you, you can even mix in other armies as you want to.

In apoc, FoC is effectively removed and all borders between codices are removed as well.

Which tells me I could have an army of Avatar of Khaine.... Seems just a little broken.

well over 2k without going apocalyptic is just 2 FOC.

As long as the avatar isn't unique, then you could have 2.

The only restriction in Apoc is that there can be only 1 of each Unique model.Apparently there is only 1 Vindicare Assassin in the entire galaxy, who knew.
Since the Avatar is not Unique, you can field nothing but in Apocalypse. Of course, if a Tyranid player wanted to, tehy could run nothing but Tervigons as Troops.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Mmmhh... So, "Officio Assassinorum Execution Force" apocalyptic formations (2 to 6 same-temple assassins) are no more?

Apocalypse is broken. Don't expect to play it any other way, that's how it's designed.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

although i think for an extra 15 points Wraithknights are better than an Avatar. an army of wraithknights would be even more rediculous due to range, movespeed, and amount of wounds (not to mention more toughness).

The formation was written for the old rules, where if you wanted you could field nothing but Marneus Calgars.

Fluff wise, The avatar of khaine is not actually a god. (He was hacked apart by slaanesh). Every craftworld has a small piece of khaine tucked away in their infinity circuit that can take a miniaturized form of khaine filled with hate and battle lust by sacrificing one of their warriors to it. That's why the avatar is not a unique. So it's perfectly possible, AND plausible for there to be several avatars on the field of battle with multiple detatchments, as each detatchment could represent a different craftworld. This is not rules though, just fluff. I figured it was relevant.
