Are you commenting about how the eBook cost more than the paper one or is there something else you're going for here? More details please.

Yeah, that discount for preordering is weird.

I don't get it.

GW is finally giving a discount and people are still complaining about the discount?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Oh no! Black Library is trying to charge me money for products that I am fully capable of buying or not buying! I seriously don't see the problem here.

Check out my Youtube channel!

Wow, sorry for the confusion! I kinda thought everyone's perspective is that usually the ebook edition should cost less than the printed material. My bad!

BTW there is no complaining. just want people to be aware that ebook edition is not always the cheapest edition.

Also Black Library is NOT giving a discount. Its selling the PAPERBACK edition that was not released before. The HARDBACK sold prior was $35CAD

GW's ebook pricing has always made zero sense

It is different and definitely weird that they'd charge more for the eBook than the hardcopy, but that is their decision. They are charging for the convenience.

I wonder if the eBook pricing was based relative to the hardback and now that they're doing a new run with softback it's coming out as more expensive than the new option.

Pricing of a paperback is generally dependent on who is distributing it. Round these parts, I can buy 40K soft-covers at my local Fred Meyer's, which is a big-chain department store... like a Wal-Mart, but about 3 steps up the social ladder.

So they're fairly cheap, around the same price as any other paperback book.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

plus isn't BL books published in house so no 3rd party costs. Where as an ebook will have some money going to Apple.

As widespread and invasive as itunes has got, I'm pretty sure they're not taking a cut of sales made direct from the publishers own website, no.

my guess is that the price was set to be inline with the hardcover release and will be reduced to paperback prices.

actually did they release the book in trade paperback format first? 17 bucks is about right for TPB

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

This is the paperback edition of the book which came out in hardcover last year. The ebook price is a discount on the price of the original hardback copy, and it will probably go down at some point, when someone notices it. You could even shoot them an email about it.

This happened to me with the books in the iBookstore (which I like because, unlike direct from BL, I get unlimited redownloads). They dropped the price of the ebook when the paperback came out in the BL store, but not in the iBookstore. I emailed them asking why, and after a friendly response, the iBook price dropped the next day.

They are if you buy it as an iBook, which the BL site can link you to

Yeah, eBook versions of Hardcover books have to be more expensive than the eBook versions of paperbacks, because it takes more bandwidth to download the more solid cover... or something.
