Hi all
Was speaking to one of the guys i play at my local club and he was saying the +3 the book of grudges means if say roll a 4 I would get a 7 so the army does not get the army wide hatred and only the unit thorgrim is with gets the special hatred.
That is not right is it? I thought If i rolled a 4 and got +3 yet the option is 1-6 then I got 4+3 but its really 6 and then get the extra special rule for that 1 unit with hatred every turn?
any one able to clarify

You cannot roll a "7" in WHFB, dice go from "1" to "6"
4+3=6 (yeah, sounds weird written like that)
Otherwise, rolling a natural "6" while using a Sword of Striking would mean that ... I don't know, maybe like a division by 0? The world comes to an end
Same with rolling "1" against MoNurgle, it's not a "0", it's a "1" (even if the result is the same)

Hmm, seems that's right, it does just say his unit and not in addition to the roll of 6. Almost certainly unintended, but that is RAW.

Doesn't the entry say on a 6+ they get eternal hatred or something.

Reading from the dwarf army book:
The great book of grudges:
If Thorgrim... Ancestral Grudge table, your army receives 3+ modifier.
Here comes the important part. "If TOTAL is 7 or more,
Thorgrim and any unit he join re-rolls failed to hit on every round of combat not just the first.
And as this is item effect rolling lets say 6 (+3 = 9)on the table
You receive The current effect, and the Book of Grudges effect as it is completely different effect, that relies
on the result of total being 7 or more.
So if you roll lets say 3 then its 6 with full hatred but no special from book. Still get the modifier.

No, you rolled a 9 . Not a 6, but a 9. One result only

IIRC the ancestral grudge table's results are all 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, so when you roll the die, you and the +3 and then consult
For instance, roll of a 2 with +3 = a result of 5 and then consult the table ( giving every one hatred).
That's how i understand it.

This.
You never rolled a 6. You rolled a 9.
If you wanted to be really mean, you could say if you roll a 4, 5, 6 you get nothing except Thorgrim's bonus (only his unit gets rerolling). Because the modified the values are 7, 8, 9. And Ancestral Grudge only goes up to 6. But that would be silly.
