And assuming titans have some sort of godlike prescience to realize that the one target they should be avoiding in a battlefield with thousands of targets is the speck on the horizon.
I'm no Tau lover, but I love how people want to discredit how their warmachines with titan-killing weapons should be any less effective than those of the other races- especially when theirs can deploy from orbit/ move faster than a lumbering walk. Even with void shields, you would see a situation where aircraft>ground vehicles, just like nowadays.

It's probably got something to do with the repeated overstatements of Tau capabilities. Unless I misremember the Tau haven't actually fought the bigger types of Titans yet, so claiming that their fliers have a history of killing Titans is a truth with modification.

Hey if it's got Titan in it's name doesn't matter how big it is. That is not a truth with modification. I don't know if Reaver Titans were fielded in the any of the Damocles engagements. Al I do know is they are trying to sell more of the Knights with the Warzone book. Could the Tau defeat a bigger class of Titan? Maybe but we will never know except outside of games of Apocalypse.

The Manta's Heavy Railguns exist to punch holes in battleship armour to allow assault boats entry.
Lets put that in perspective, shall we?
The average Imperial Battleship has armour plating what, twenty metres thick? At least? Even a Warlord Titan a kilometre tall like in the picture Hari posted isn't going to have armour that's 0.2% as thick as the whole thing is tall. That's just impossibly immovable, especially on a bipedal robot.
Someone else can do the maths on that one, I only have a minute to post. :p
Anyway, the AX-1-0 is a battlezone refit that relies on putting stupidly oversized guns on a smaller airframe than is really sane. It's shocking that the dang things can maneuver at all with the power drain and weight issues - that's why they had to remove the drone racks, after all.
Even if Forge World are up to their usual copy-paste no-clue-as-to-what-their-numbers-mean tricks.
Anyway, the net result is that if a Manta can do its job of putting troops on enemy battleships, it can use the same gun to take out a titan ground target.

It's not that bad, actually. The Manta is huge, but most of that size is taken up by the transport capacity, powerful shield generators, tons of secondary weapons, FTL drive, command deck, etc. It's a multi-role support ship that happens to also carry some really big guns. If you stripped out all of the extra stuff and made a pure titan killer variant* you'd probably end up with something like the Tigershark. And of course that's what they did. The Tigershark isn't a field refit made in desperate circumstances, it's a standard-production design that just happened to see its first combat testing on Taros. Sure, it's built around its main guns, but so is an A-10.
*Which probably exists, and is the version you see in BFG, since using a transport as a bomber in space-only battles doesn't make much sense. I'd expect the transport section to be removed or replaced with anti-ship missile racks.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Well, it's a Tau A-10. Only experimental, hence the X in the name. :p

I don't think X means experimental for Tau.

2 means experimental for tau when it is the second number in designation (at least with batttlesuits).

I would hope that something built to kill Titans would handle Knights much more easily.
