This won't work too well against lists with high model count, but some other lists will completely crap their pants.

I would drop Seth and get a libby (some FoD shinanigans combined with shield of sanguinius would go well). Drop the 2 locator beacons and drop one sternguard...
Saves 105pts...
Now if only there was a totally awsome model for 105pts that would complement this list... if only... ;-).

My UM list would find the assaults annoying but as my HQ choice is Calgar I can fail/pass moral checks at will. This means you won't be safe from shooting in my turn and as everything is spread out you have to get through at least 2 tac squads before you reach my devastator squads. I don't know if your units can charge in turn 1 but if they don't, probably 1/3 of your army is dead before turn 2 starts.
NOTE:
I run no armour so my list is exactly the thing that you would have problems with as there is no real use for melta's against me as it's either a marine behind an aegis line or Lotd & AT that have 3+ or 2+ invuls.

Correct me if I am wrong but this list is illegal since you only can take one special weapon per 5 models in your assult squad. And more to that, arent there a rule that states that you only can have half your army (rounded up) in reserve?

BA Assault squads are not the same as C:SM assault squads.

There is such a rule regarding reserves, however, that calculation EXCLUDES any units that MUST start in reserves (drop pods) and units/modelsl embarked upon them. If your army is 100% in drop pods, then all start/may start in reserves. Then, Turn 1, half (rounded up) of those drop pods come in.

Incorrect. You lose if you have no models on the table at the end of GAME turn one, not player turn one.
If your opponent goes first, t hey simply have nothing to shoot at. You then come in with half (rounded up) of your drop pods and, voila, you have models on the table at the end of the Game turn.

still i feel that this list lacks the model count to be effective, add to that the fact that i see infenuspistols as a waist of points. I mean come on 6 inc range? 3INC!!! melta this for 15p..... naaah not worth it

BA assault squads do need 10men to take 2 spec weapons. I overlooked this when I saw the sarge was takung 2 infernus pistols as I often run drop pod assault squads with 2 infernus and 1 melta. 2 melta is indeed illegal in a squad under 10.

However he needs not worry about the tabling issues as it is the end of game turn 1 so half his army will be on the board by then.

Also bear in mind that with the 6" deployment out of the pod you will always be in 6" range of the infernus pistol and 5/6 of the time be within 3".

i'd add a few priests instead, if you place the good and use their 6 inc fnp bubble to cover more units. and hey, you can allways give them a combi-melta for even more melta goodness

My bad I didn't look at the codex to verify, but quartermaster let me do the dual meltas so that will give me more points to play with.

As far as Seth goes I normally run him in a drop pod with an assault squad as allies for my crimson fists or raven guard! He is a beast for me. He has taken out a Bastion, several tervigons, exorcines and hive tyrants, an ork Deff Dread, and large mob all by himself. That is why I include him as my HQ.

It'd be....fun? But really not a good army. Infernus pistols cost a lot and have incredibly short range, you're pretty likely to end up outside of range when your drop pod arrives. Your assault units are also lacking on actual assault power with the sarges having 2 pistols.

It'd be fun...But I really can't see it doing well.

The only possible way (if you place the pod 1" away before scatter), for your infernus pistols to be out of range is if you scatter 12" due to the 6 inch deployment out if the pod. The chance of you being out of range is 1/36 or in otherwords very unlikely. The chance of you being out of melta range is (if you roll a 9 or more), 5/18, still unlikely. But even if you are out of melta range - 2 st 8 ap1 shots against side or rear armour is still pretty sweet - and that is not counting the melta gun.

The instant someone starts bubblewrapping important units with infantry you lose the ability to hit your melta range. That is a strong counter-tactic that may mitigate your strategy with great efficiency. Being one-dimensional, you should expect to be outright countered in some instances like heavy interceptor (tau) or armies that can bubble wrap their important vehicles.
