If I want to start a new project in fantasy it has to be low models. It also needs to be easy to paint and have a good co lour scheme.
Do anybody have a good suggestion for a good army and a good co lour scheme for fantasy? I am thinking ogres or chaos warriors since they have the fewest models. You also have an exuse to use different co lours in the different regiments.

Ogres. Easiest army to get together. Large models, easy to paint, straight forward to play.
Everyone in the world plays chaos. They are like the space marines of fantasy. Do something different!

Ogres are not only the easiest army to paint and assemble and play, theyre also the most inexpensive army point for point.

High Elves, bright colours give nice colour schemes, expensive units, that's what I'd go for.

Definitely ogres. They're low count easy to paint and surprisingly easy to convert. I've had a lot of fun turning mine into a coastal (pirate) warband that sacks empire villages.

Cool. :-)
So say I go for Ogres, what is a good colour scheme? What are quick, easy and funn conversions? Usualy my colour schemes are not that good while the paint job itself is descent. I would like some advice.

I kind of disagree about the one poster who says that everyone plays Chaos I find a lot of people play Ogres for their low model count (ultra low model count sort of like Grey Knights in 40k).
If you are just painting then it doesn't matter about play style but if you are going for play style and easy painting go for Warriors of Chaos.
You can do some fun conversion for the lords and heroes for Chaos and can do various colour schemes (red armour for khorne, black or grey is a classic)
Hope that helps a bit

Dwarfs are on the lower model count side of things. I couldn't bring myself to play ogres personally I used them when they first came out for a short while and I just did not enjoy only having 8 minis on the board.
So now I've gone with dwarfs, I still have to paint regiments but its a lot less then my other favorite armies, Skaven & Night goblins.
I think chaos dwarfs or regular dwarfs would be a good choice.

Lizardmen are mostly a pretty easy/fast army to paint. They're one of the few Fantasy armies that you can just spray and wash 85% of the model and then just do the details. Then once you've speed painted your way through a few Saurus and Skinks, you can just fill out the rest of the army with dinosaurs. One thing I like about Night Goblins, you have tons of them but they're easy and fast to paint. Putting together a regiment of 40 Night Goblins is no where near as intensive as putting together a unit of 40 Orcs or Common goblins. Skinks are also pretty fast to paint, a white undercoat, paint scales, paint skin, wash, details, done.

You can (or at least could) get lots of Bulls and Ironguts cheap on eBay. That will make it easier to buy the larger kits. Those kits while expensive are still cheaper compared to the most recently released kits so you're saving more there, too.

Do Ogres, but use the Mantic Games figures, they both cheaper and MUCH better looking!

Are there any good ogre colour schemes out there then? I am not looking for one that is nesaseraly easy to paint but one that looks really good on the tabletop.

Warriors of Chaos! Best infantry in the game and simple yet classy designs. Lots of room for conversion. Automatically Appended Next Post: Niiai wrote:Cool. :-)

If you must... A lot of people have been successfull with a grey-blue skin scheme and various warm colors as armour and clothing. Good to have the cold and warm contrasts.
