Do we really need Fateweaver to be competitive? Do all our Flying Circus lists have to be auto take Fateweaver?

I want to be different (even if just a little) and not take old Fatey. I like Be'lakor with his Telepathy powers, Shrouded and other little goodies. But is he up to the task of filling in the big boots of a Fateweaver? Maybe not completely - but at least most of the way?

Here is what I have come up with for my Be'lakor list:

CHAOS DAEMONS PRIMARY
HQ

Bloodthirster - Greater x1, Exalted x1 (portalglyph)
Lord of Change - Psyker 3, Greater x2, Lesser x1 (staff of change)

TROOPS

Plaguebearers x12
Plaguebearers x11

FAST

Khorne Flash Hounds x17

HEAVY

Daemon Prince of Tzeentch - armor, flight, Psyker 3, Greater x1, Exalted x1 (grimoire)?

CHAOS SPACE MARINES DETATCHMENT

HQ

Be'lakor

TROOPS

Cultists x10

FAST

Helldrake

=1999

I like the idea of making the Khorne Dogs or Bloodthirster Invisible with Be'lakor. Seems the way to go early game. Hopefully a game changer?
I am not so sure about the Grimoire without Fateweaver, is it worth the risk? I am leaning towards no, but hell, whom doesn't want a 2++ LoC with re-rolling 1 saves? = King Jerk Wad.

Fateweaver is not necessary.
Be'Lakor does not fill his void but rather fills another.

Think of Fateweaver as a safety net and Be'Lakor as a scalpel. Two very different objects useful for different situations.

Something I've always want to do is take a 2000 pt Khorne Monster Mash.

2 Bloodthirsters
60 Bloodletters
3 Daemon Princes

various upgrades.

The list seems good. The only thing about not including Fateweaver, is that you can't include Tzeentch DP's for heavy support slots without taking a LoC. Fateweaver is the same price, still a good psyker and way more survivable with the grimoir. Plus you also get the staff of tomorrow, and the automatic warlord trait. You could of course include Slaanesh or Nurgle princes for the respective Greater Daemons. The Khorne ones are just a little sub-standard though.

I like Bloodthirsters and with some help from Invisibility plus the Grimoire or Iron Arm I think they can shine as almost nothing can beat them.

Well, what if I doubled down and went Be'lakor plus Fateweaver? I am warming up to this idea.

CHAOS DAEMONS PRIMARY

Fateweaver
Bloodthirster - Greater x1, Exalted x1 (portalglyph)

Plaguebearers x12
Plaguebearers x11

Khorne Flash Hounds x17

Daemon Prince of Tzeentch - armor, flight, Psyker 3, Greater x1, Exalted x1 (Grimoire)

CHAOS SPACE MARINES DETACHMENT

Be'lakor

Cultists x10

Helldrake

Not a fan of the blood thruster at all, he is the worst of the 4 greater daemons.

IMO the 2k fmc circus build I plan to start testing after adepticon is the following. I am not sure how it does as I have not playtested it yet, but this is where I plan on starting at.

Fateweaver
Keeper of secrets 2 greater gifts, ml2
10 daemonetts with sargent
10 pleguebears with sargent
daemon prince MOS, armor, wings, greater, exalted, ml3
daemon prince MOS, Armor, wings, greater, exalted, ml3
Bastion
Black legion chaos space marine daemon prince with MOT,armor, wings spineshriver blade and the skull (gives ew)
10 cultists
helldrake

the bloodthirster is a beast!! by far the best single cc unit in the game, i haven't ran into anything that can handle him. pair him up with fleshhounds heldrakes and other fmc, he'll wreck shop. he's good to run, i run mine with belakor, fun times.

No doubt he's a beast, the only issue is actually getting him there alive.

that's why you take other fast threats; hounds, fmc, drakes. over load his target priority (try to anyways).

It also depends on the level of competition you play as we'll . A plan like that will quickly fall apart vs the top builds.
