So was he betrayed. In Lord of the Night it was suggested that he was cast aside after he served his purpose. In the Lightning Tower hes just made to be psychotic. In the Talos trilogy its seems that it wasn't so much Curze that fell as his Legion who lost half their number and were replaced with nostroman criminals, causing him to destroy his home world and ending up as an enemy of the Imperium. The latter one seems the most likely.

Curze is bonkers. His legion fell because they followed the madness of their primarch.

one thing ab out madness is that it tends to mess with someone's perceptions of reality

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Curze was insane, but then again the Emperor was a hypocrite, a liar and a tyrant. So we don´t know the truth.

And I´d rather have it this way. I wouldn´t like the HH books to reveal the truth.

It is when you go insane and cannot stop doing army lists using Army Builder, to the point that you don´t sleep, eat or play 40k. Many players have fallen to this desease. Their bones are collected in a mass grave near Nottingham.

Were arguing over which mass murdering clone god space warlord is the best, no one here has much sense of reality so i'm not sure its a good insult.

We know for a fact that Kurze was completely insane. The Emperor and the other Primarchs were douchebags, and certainly didn't help matters. But Kurze, like Angron, was damaged goods before the Crusade even found him. Really, the merciful thing for the Emperor to have done would have been to put them both down and merge their legions with different Primarchs' legions.

Both Lord of the Night and the Talos trilogy (enjoyed all 4 books a lot) make much of the fact that the truth is elusive and often now what is wanted or propogated

It seems to me that KC was always at best teetering on the edge of sanity and his Legion was the same - as he intended.........

He expected and wanted to be betrayed and may have been welcoming death but could not bring himself to commit suicide - he is full of self loathing and hatred - read Vulkan Lives fro more of this - the Dark Eldar should have loved him

That he was a powerful part of the Imperium of Man shows shows how dark and twisted it was even in his glory days.

I don't think he was betrayed as such - he made that happen as perhaps his chance at peace.............

The Night Haunter definitely got what he deserved, but he knew that all along. If he was never founded by the Emperor, I'm sure the Imperium would have tried to kill him eventually anyway. He was Vlad Tepes in Space.

merge their legions with different Primarchs' legions.

I'm not sure that the other Legions would have wanted "the children of misrule" as they called the prison born recruits from Terra that became the 8th legion. The problem I see not just with the Night Lords but with other Legions is the Emperor wanted conquest at all cost, he got it and as a result the Primarchs cut corners like turning their warriors lobotomized rage machines, or used chemical weapons(DG), or just refused and actually tried to found a society that would be loyal like the word bearer did and look how that turned out. If I had to pick the most loyal primarch I'd say Pert and his Iron Warriors, they fought in the worst battles, were split up and scattered, denied the credit they deserved, treated like gak by the other primarchs till they were burned out, behind him i'd say Curze, Lorgar, and Magnus.

Curze cut corners to get results just like the other Primarchs did, he was given a legion of disciplined terror troops, and as reinforcement he got undisciplined terror troops, he used them in the only way you could employ those type of troops. He knew full well what his father intended for him.
