WarGames Con has a new name this year Texas Games Con. http://txgamescon.com/

I'll be there, I wouldn't miss it. Probably playing in the 1500pt. Probably playing Space Wolves/White Scars

After looking at the new rules, probably not going. If there's no 'guidelines' for the Limitied 40k Tourny, I don't really want to go to destination event if there's gonna be subjective comp......

There is a guideline.... "don't be a douche". If your list is too hard it will be rejected. You can either amend it and resubmit or modify it to fit in the 2000 pt GT.

At this point, you could send in 3 identical lists and have only 1 go through, just because the TO knew that 1 guy.

Not fair IMO, since there is no 'guidelines' on how to be a total arse.

Anyways.... Its a tournament for money. Why go to a destination event when I'm not allowed to bring my A-game?

I don't see the draw in playing in a tournament where I KNOW the matchups are complete rock-paper-scissors and will be determined a disproportionate amount of the time by who goes first. I'd rather play a balanced TAC list in the 1500 where I think the quality of the game will be better.

I'm actually interested in making the trip out of state for this, as I'll be in Texas earlier that week... I just have to consider staying those extra nights. I'll be honest I'm turned off by the idea of no formations, even to replace the allied slot... What's a bug player to do? I'm also not sure if I'll be going for the 1.5 or 2k tournament... Decisions decisions!

I'm playing in the 30k campaign so I don't really care about the tournament rules. That said WGC has always been the best event I've ever attended... Very competitive and very well organized .

Yes. The name was changed to appease GW from BoLScon to WargamesCon. WargamesCon has been changed to TexasGamesCon to appease the hyper-liberal members of the local press. There were objections to promoting anything with War in the name.

That is what the 2000pt GT is for. This gives players a choice.

Thanks for the clarification but it is an odd double whammy. A company that has no presence there has a problem with the name even though they don't have a trademark on that word so it changes... and local press in the state probably most accepting of gun ownership (or tied for it) has an issue with using the word "war"? Wow...

The BolsCon name change took place when GW still supported events with prize support. GW was having issues with BoLs at the time. Austin is one of the most liberal cities in the US and has been getting more so all the time. I think half of California has migrated here.

Kinda ran out under the radar. It happened and I'd expect formal reports and such popping up later this week.

IIRC
Best Overall was Mike Kiser w/ Scars/Iron Hands bikes
Best General was David Light w/ Necrons

Recipient of the Chumby Award was, oddly enough, me.

Nova 2012: Narrative Protagonist
AlamoGT 2013: Seguin's Cavalry (Fluffiest Bunny)

Yup. Dave had me by one VP but I snuck past him on paint scores.
