Am I right in thinking that these are the original Eldar worlds, located inside the Eye of Terror, and are pretty much daemon worlds? I saw this passage in the new Militarum Tempestus book, which seemed really odd to me. In a section on the 55th Alphic Hydras, "one of the most well-respected Militarum Tempestus regiments":
Their most recent success was a battle upon the crone world of Idzyk II, where they formed a stealth unit to ambush and disable an Eldar Wraithknight, turning the tide of battle in favour of the Ultramarines.
So a force of Ultramarine and Scions went inside the Eye and onto a crone world for some reason? Are there crone worlds outside the Eye of Terror? That would make much more sense.

There are Eldar worlds outside of the Eye. Exodite Eldar live on many of them and Biel Tan Crafworld aggressively defends them from any attempts at colonisation from other races.
There are also Eldar worlds in the Maelstrom too as one was featured in Daemon World.

Yup, there are - and Maiden worlds too. The Eye swallowed the heart of the old Eldar Empire, not everything of it. Whatever worlds were left outside were probably sparsely populated (and unimportant) colonies or colonies-to-be.

All Crone worlds are within the Eye of Terror:

The original population was killed during the fall. Sometimes, Eldar try to go back to retrieve the ressources for soul stones. But Eldar and Ultramarines meeting in the Eye of Terror and having a battle indeed sounds like someone in the design team is not familiar with 40k background.

Ah sorry, I mixed up Maiden worlds with Crone Worlds. I believe Maiden worlds are the one's outside of the eye, prepared for the day the Eldar might somehow be free of Slaanesh's curse?

There are Eldar that are corrupted by Chaos and they do have worlds. So it could have been a case of that.

The crone world were the original homeworlds of the Eldar, the heart of their empire. They are all located in the Eye of Terror.
The Eldar still go there to retrieve ancient artifacts etc.
It indeed makes very little sense for the Ultramarines to be there. The only ocassion I can think of where Space Marines went to a crone world was during the Abyssal Crusade, when the Brothers of the Anvil were captured on Belial IV by the Dark Eldar.

Ultramarines certainly would go there. Why?
Because, Calgar. He is too cool to not have been everywhere dangerous and kill everything there and win despite overwhelming odds.
LoL, these writers....

See here:
Maiden Worlds are the lush paradise worlds originally created by the Eldar before the Fall of their race. The creation involved seeding barren planets with life, gradually leading to their transformation into lush, life-supporting worlds. The seeding of worlds was part of a program of colonization which would take many thousands of years to reach fruition, and the result would only be seen by later generations of Eldar.

That slight possibility was retconned about 15 years ago. Since then, only one known Eldar might have been corrupted by Chaos, but even he has now returned to the Dark Eldar uncorrupted.

When Eldar are good. They're very good.
When they're bad. They are very bad...

It's pretty easy to explain, Tigurius/some other Librarian foresees something bad happening that's cause is rooted with something on world in the EoT, Ultramarines and friends go there to stop it.
