Hi Guys,

I'm having a look at the Chimer'as pricing in the IA book one. If I were to run the Chimera with Autocannons, Camo netting and dozer blades, would I use the IA book's price of 105 (70, 15 for autocannon, 15 for new camo netting, given rumours, 5 for dozer blades, given rumours and that the IA book suggests that one use the pricing from the 40k codex) or the actual guard codexes prices?

If it's the latter, do I pay 15 points for the autocannon, or 5 because the multi-laser on the chimera is base at 10 points?

Unless you have a rule that says otherwise, you would use the pricing listed in whichever book you are selecting the unit from.

I think you have the old edition. In IA1SE (Imperial Armour Book One: Second Edition) it makes no reference to the IG book, and has the pricing independent of it. The set up you refer to would cost 90pts in IA1SE (55 for tank, 5 for cannon, 20 for camo, 10 for blades).

No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

Check again, It says to use the pricing from the IG codex for camo netting and dozer blades.

It's 70 for the tank, 15 for the autocannon, 15 for camo netting and 5 for dozer blades, so 105 points if I use that book. (I'm using the Tempestus book to make the pricing for the camo netting and dozer blades, as well as glimpsed leaks of the AM book.)

My IA1SE book does not say that. What page are you looking at?

IA1:2ed does not say use the IG prices, it has very specific prices listed. I've been using the IA1:2ed because AC on Chimeras are awesome, and they were functionally identical to the codex IG ones.

With the new dex though, I'm not too sure this would be kosher, with the Codex:AM Chimeras costing 10pts more than the IA1:2ed Chimeras.

You're looking at page 128 of the imperial armour volume one - imperial guard and imperial navy. Which is out of date. You need to use imperial armour one - second edition.

I hadn't realised. Thanks, Pug.

My apologies.

Is IA two in modern terms then? Because the old one is really hard to read with sixth edition in mind.

There is an !A2:2ed which is good for 6ed.

Okay, I've bought this book and had a look.

sorry for the thread necromancy, Mod if you'd just hold off on banning this thread long enough for me to get an answer it would be appreciated.

So I'd be running the Chimera at 55 with an autocannon, dozer blades and camo netting, coming out to 90. Do I use the rules that IA2:2 gives for the chimera, or do I just use the new rules?

While I'm inclined to say the former, It feels like I'll avoid more arguments doing the latter.

Thanks, and I apologise again for the thread necromancy.

If you're taking the vehicle from an IA book, you use the rules that it comes with.

You don't use rules from one book, with points/options from another

But that doesn't address the situation of which is the most 'up to date'. It isn't kosher to use the entry from the 4E codex when there is a 6E codex.
It isn't okay to use the entry from the previous IA book, when there is an updated entry in a more recent IA book.

So why would it be okay to use an older IA book, when there is a more recent codex entry?

That's a completely different situation.

An IA book isn't a Codex, an update to a Codex has no bearing in the IA book.
Both are current and valid.

The new and recent Codex: Inquisition still uses the older rules for Chimera, a new Guard Codex has no bearing on this.

I'm iffy about it. My issue is that it is a unit in my astra millitarum army and it does already have rules there. I just envision long debates about why I only have two fire points (of course, I don't benefit from lasgun arrays. I just only have two fire points).

I know you're correct, I'm just put off by the prospect.

Thankyou for your assistance, Grendel.

FW is reviewing all the IG stuff and plans on FAQing everything as need to match the new book. So expect the Chimeras they have to go up for instance.

I should only end up paying the 5 points for the autocannon, if the upgrades change in price apropriately. (Don't judge me, It's a comp army.)
