So I'm looking through my new AM codex and I see that Enginseers now have a notation of (Character) in their bio. Does this mean I can attach them to Veteran squads like a Commissar and put them all in a chimera since it seats 12 people?
If so it sounds like I could bring one of his servitors along as well.

Actually they have IC. THAT let's then join units, being a character does not. Page 39 for IC rule
Commissars do mot have this rule, but have a nice box out explaining how they work

I found it, you're right, in the special rules for Enginseers it lists them as Independent Characters.  Automatically Appended Next Post: OK new question based on this information. I have enginseers in the chimeras with my vets or regular guardsmen... does the 12" radius around the tank apply for blessing of the omnissiah?

It is not the character notation that allows Commissars and Priests to join units, it is the paragraph of rules at the start of their unit entries.
Notable (character) 1 man units that are not ICs and cannot join units: SW Lone Wolf, Mephiston, Death Company Corbolo, Old One Eye.

Without an FAQ specifically denying it, it is allowed via the Transport rules(page 78, first paragraph of embarking)
