Today I decided to kick off a new imperial guard army which I wanted to be slightly more unique on the table than just painting cadians in different schemes. I just wanted to know, do the mordian models come conpletely unassembled like the plastic counter parts eg I can swap heads around etc or are they a single cast? Also I cant decide what paints to get, im thinking of a bright red tunic with navy breeches but dont know what colours to use from the citadel range?
thank you

All of the other old metal IG models I have are single cast, so I'm sure the Mordians are the same.
In terms of colors, Mephiston Red is a good bright regal looking red color, and there are a ton of blue shades to choose from so that's really personal preference. Macragge blue would probably make for a good dress uniform color though.

Hmm im not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing hahaa, I suppose the poses will actually look decent but I really wanted to use them to make them into preatorians but I wouldn't feel comfotable hacking their heads off. I had a look at mephiston red and thats essentially what im looking for and I have both khantor blue and Macragge already so I'll see what looks best once they arrive

First off, the Mordian Iron Guard are one piece metals. A squad is available from the GW store however I don't think there are any Mordian Heavy Weapons on the site.
If you are not going to be playing in a GW store, give these a look.

Known as Tannenburg Fusiliers, they are a ideal for counts-as Mordians.
Although going for nigh on $50 a pop, they are expensive however, as a Vic's miniatures regular, I can attest that they are fantastic quality.
For Heavy Weapons, try these from Curious Constructs:

Although these figures come with pith helmets, order some more peaked caps from Vic Lamb and there are your crews.

I'm still using the old Blood Red for my Praetorians but I think the closest equivalent would be the Evil Sunz Scarlet. Try Kantor Blue for trousers.
Failing that, ask at your local GW for advice or an FLGS because they may have cheaper alternative paints.
Welcome to the ranks of the collectors who prefer their cannon fodder to be operational AND decorational.

I have had a look at both the victoria miniatures and curious constructs, as I am stil at school/going onto college and learning to drive $50 is pretry expensive for just 10 guys and I was really aiming for the preatorian look. I think I might just start off with the mordians and slowly buy a decent sized group of preats of ebay and other sources and use victoria miniatures once I have more spare income to make both regiments. I might use victoria miniatures to get some rough riders and other pieces to make an regiment that looks like imperialstic british soldiers

Get them from Ebay, with some patience you can get them significantly cheaper than from GW and as they are metals they are very easily to strip.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Good luck on ebay if you start going for Praetorians!! They can go for silly prices.
Mordians are available on a regular basis and shouldn't bash the pocket too much.
Enjoy them because they certainly never seemed to be a popular choice around my way when they came out. I was the only one who had Mordians and I semi-sidelined them when the Praetorians were released. Others seemed to prefer the Tallarns.
If you do decide on the Praetorian look, keep Curious Constructs in mind. Their figures (as per the artillery crew) are a closer match for the GW figures than Vic's and the company is planning on releasing a sci-fi British Empire firing line.

Thank god these are so expensive, the last thing I need is a third army.
Edit: Ok, anybody know any other not-Mordians? Would also accept not-Vostroyians (sp?) or not-Praetorians

These are my Mordian 4th.
I had some old metal models but the majority are stock Cadians just painted up Mordian.

If I could just find Mordian heads then I could settle for putting them on Cadian bodies I reckon

victoria minatures makes dress cap heads which are similar to the actual mordian heads which would be good to use to convert cadians you already own ( http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/dress-cap-heads-2) however the actual GW mordian miniatures are only a tiny bit more expensive than cadians a couple of quid here in the uk anyways
