Wyvern Battery 195
Aegis Defense Line Quadgun 100

Yarrick, Coteaz, and a priest go with a 30-man blob with three lascannons. This squad has Yarrick man the ADL Quadgun, and provides deep strike protection thanks to Coteaz. The other blob contains the Psyker and another Priest and stays close to get orders from Yarrick. Wyverns target infantry and Vendettas target vehicles.

**Alternative 1**
Drop the Manticores and one primaris psyker, add Pask in a Vanquisher + Executioner with Plasma Sponsons. Hunt tanks long-range with PAsk and split fire Executioner in heavy inantry/light vehicles.

**Alternative 2**
Drop the Manticores and one primaris psyker, add Pask in a Punisher with HB Sponsons + another Punisher with HB Sponsons. Move forward and hunt infantry/light vehicles with Pask and split fire other punisher into lighter infantry, or focus down heavier infantry.

What do you think? I could also be persuaded to just drop the Scions totally and add something else not mentioned that you guys think is worth 390 points.

I am a big fan of alternative one. I still feel tempestus are too expensive per model for competitive play YMMV. It also give you more threats on the table turn one which is a boon to any unit.

Thanks for the input! I added one more option. Do you like that one better?

I find that Pask in the punisher is the best option, if he is your warlord then have his squad include a vanquisher and executioner, Pask himself can take down squads of terminators while the other two can focus on tanks. I don't know about you but if I'm running yarrick I'm trying to get him in close combat as he is a beast, if you are looking for a cheaper HQ then you can go with a lord commissar.

Pask in a vaquisher will, statistically, kill any vehicle he shoots at that lacks a cover save. Punisher and Vanq are ahead of the rest, but Vanq is slightly better than pun.

Manticores are truly only worth it against vehicles whereas the two Leman hq can kill mc, heavy vehicles, light vehicles, and heavy infantry. I definitely prefer option one still. If you are really considering another artillery piece. I would prefer the deathstrike. it only gets one shot, but with the size, strength, ignore cover, and ap of the blast it will easily make its points back. The only weakness of the deathstrike is multilevel ruins, but what large blast barrage weapon doesn't lose to multilevel ruins.

Manticores are pretty wonderful. I think they edge out basilisk just because their minimum range is shorter and more manoeuvrable. A couple of Manticores, MoO, Wyverns, etc.. can take out a huge portion of your opponents army that is necessary for them to win with.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

I wasn't saying manticores are bad they just aren't as versatile as two leman russes. The Russ squad is also harder to kill. The deathstrike also has side armor twelve which makes a huge difference in vulnerability.

Manticores are incredibly awesome especially with prescience. Your minimally getting 2 ST10 Templates that are Twinlinked, more if you roll well. That's awesome.

Just a quick question...

Why pask in vanquisher as an alternative? With the large amount of melta already at your disposal, maybe pask with a punisher can be more effective?

I would drop the priests. Losing the ability to go to ground with your blobs is going to hurt if you take a lot of dakka

See, I'm curious about this. While it is true that I lose the ability to go to ground, they gain fearless and actually become decent in assault, deterring two of the things that can wipe blob squads. I don't know if the +1 to cover really makes them much more survivable when, for instance, they would get wiped by any halfway decent melee unit or run off the board when they take too many casualties.

You do realize that the cover saves is +2 when you are behind the ADL? This is a 2+ cover save for your blob. More than enough reasoning not to go fearless. Stubborn (Yarrick and Coteaz so always Ld 10) should keep them on the table and Yarrick can order them to stand up next turn relatively easily.

Hmm, I didn't realize that actually. Changes things quite a bit. I'll have to retool this. What would you recommend I do with the extra 50 points?

Depends on what you want to do with your blob, sit and shoot or move forward. If moving forward I would suggest keeping the priests.

If just sitting and shooting I would suggest dropping the priests so you can go to ground.

Also I myself vote for the russ idea, mainly because I just love my armor and am a fan of the russ lol.
