Subject: Phaerons with Relentless and Dark Eldar Court of The Archon queries

1: When you upgrade your Overlord to Phaeron, what is the actual point of him being Relentless? What units can I attach him to for Relentless to be of use as most things seem to be assault or rapid fire in the Necron armoury.
2: Court of the Archon- The codex says 1-5 for Sslyth/Lhamaen/Ur-ghul/Medusae. Do you actually have to take a minimum 1 of each court member type? Or can you just pick and choose what you want in his Court?
Some clarification on this would be great
Thanks

1. Relentless doesn't confer to the squad; only the models that actually HAVE the rule have it.
EDIT: Except that Phaerons do. In which case, they allow Warriors and Immortals to shoot their Gauss weapons and still charge.
2. No, you don't have to take a minimum of one of each.
EDIT: Wrong again, apparently. Comparing it to Beastpacks, it does indeed seem that you have to take a minimum of one of each minion type. Huh. I don't think anyone plays it like that, though. Honestly never seen a Court fielded.

I have fielded a court. Medusae are awesome!! As are Sslyth shooting wise. Ur-ghuls are meh and Lhamaeans are useful for buffing Sslyth carbines

Before I begin please make your Titles a little more precise to the questions being asked, the Mods simply request that to make the forum a little easier to browse through. 1) Relentless does more then allow a Model to move and fire Weapons without Snap Shot penalties, it is possible that these secondary effects are what the Author intended for this model. 2) That would need to be addressed by a Dark Eldar player as I am not entirely sure of their Army List off the top of my head, but if I feel compelled to guess for posting on this forum in the first place... I would lean more to 1-5 models consisting of the following four. Edited: Ninja, that is what I get for leaving this window open for whom knows how long before posting... and not refreshing before I do.

Thanks JimSolo, Seeing it put forth in that format, instead of 1-5 for W/X/Y/Z, makes it a hell of a lot more clear. On a Side Note: Do you have any more polls to put up, I miss your polls.

I just put one up last night about the cheesiness of the Fortress of Redemption over in General Discussion.
Haven't really run up against a rules issue lately that I felt needed the clarity of a poll. Not since the Triarch Stalkers.
Ran into an interesting situation the other day where I was able to draw LOS through the treads of an Immolator to hit the unit on the other side. (The tank was elevated.) It felt shysty, but I was pretty sure the RAW was clear on it.
Back on topic though: this can't be the way the Court of the Archon works. I mean, it seems to be, but that seems so counter-intuitive that I'm certain there has to be something I missed.

Except that the Lhamaeans only buff themselves and the Archon. The Sslyth's weapons are not affected.

Fraid so.
And the only poisoned weapon the archon can take that isn't already 2+ is his splinter pistol

You also have to remember that the phaeron rule was written under 5th, when rapid fire worked differently.

Phaeron is an outdated special rule that was designed for 5th an no longer has a purpose in 6th. Most of the time, you're better off Overwatching instead of charging the enemy.

Not necessarily, necrons are still WS4 and S4, if your phaeron has a warscythe and MSS (why wouldnt he?) then him plus your warrior/immortal unit can put some serious pain on an enemy if they shoot then assault. Also great for last turn of the game desperate rushes

The Phaeron upgrade certainly has a few situational uses (charging that LAST termie before he charges YOU, charging a vehicle, etc) but I don't think it has nearly enough to justify spending points on it.
