Does anyone use these? I'm loving the models and they're about the price of both warp spiders and swooping hawks so what role would they fill? How are they compared to the other two?

Honestly they try to be a little bit of both, but they kina derp it because they are not focused enough at either.
The current rules for ghostlight are just too weak to make that shot count, especially the fact it triggers of the weaker one so you can't even exarch-buff it with his stronger gun (silliest design possible)
They might be nice to look at, and fun to field, but they will not preform well.
The phoenix lord is interesting though, as long you ignore the "ghostlight" thingy and just use the gun as it is, given its a nasty gun, and she can also pack a mean punch in CC at very high initiative and WS, and decent enough S to kill many things before they even get to swing.

They used to be good before they lost their invuln save for a cover save that cannot be improved.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

I wouldn't say Good, although they also weren't Bad. Slightly overcosted. But now all they're good for is as paperweights, and they can't even do that well because they're too light and top heavy.

The Phoenix Lord would be a decent Baron replacement in your seer council if you don't want to ally up with DE.

Except you would lose stealth, and a Farseer.

True... the biggest thing that this Phoenix Lord (and Baron) grants is hit and run... plus, Phoenix Lord isn't to shabby in CC.
Don't get me wrong, the Baron is the absolute best force mutliplier here...

I'd add him in only if I played at 2000+ points, so I could still have 2 Farseers.

Shadow Spectres are awesome models, but the rules are lacklustre. If I played Eldar I'd probably buy them for the models alone though, rules be damned.

Same could be said for Baharroth.

Baharroth is far from the best Phoenix Lord...but definitely one of the most reliable. Just like Maugen Ra, he's going to do something of note in every game.

I just meant he adds hit & run and a phoenix lord stat line to whatever unit he joins. I completely agree he is no the best PL... but none of them are amazing. Solid, but not amazing.

I just use my shadow spectres as warp spiders now. No one complains since they're gorgeous models. They also look more like ghost jumping and jet packing around.
Their old rules were indeed much better. Their invul and range increases made them a solid unit to use with corsairs.

Too bad it wont fly in a WYSIWYG game like a turny or something, but still a nice use for them.

Nah, I've used them in many big name tourneys and no one has cared. Rule of cool! Plus, tourneys don't allow forgeworld units, so there is no chance of them being mistaken as spectres / being proxied as them.

You must have some big tools in your LGS (or you go to a GW).

Point is, our local does allow forge world, even in turnies, and the WYSIWYG is nearly unanimously agreed on as we get confused ALOT even with it.
