The fluff will clarify that instead of The Emperor VAMPIRE PSYKER MURDERING 1000+ psykers per day, he is actually VAMPIRE PSYKER MURDERING over 1 billion psykers per day, because multiplying by powers of ten makes the game way more immersive.

Top of turn five each player rolls a 2d6 and adds that many victory points to his opponent's total.

Weary of all the complaints on balance, GW will finally address this issue head on with the introduction of the new Fulcrum Battleboard!

Yes, now each player's strategy must include moving his or her models in a way so their weight won't tip the playing surface too much, or all the models will fall to the floor with a narrative crash!! Advanced scenarios will tip on multiple axis! What balance!

Too much of a stretch?

Before starting the game a number of rolls on various tables for terrain, weather, etc will be required. Determining how many rolls of each type will be required is determined by rolling on one of several tables listing multiple values of each, with each table having different distributions reflecting differing combat conditions. Determine which of these tables to use by rolling on the random random random table table table.

Ignores cover is getting superseded by a Cover Penetration system. Most weapons and effects that formerly ignored cover are now Cp4.

All attacks are now resolved one by one. If more than model is attacking, completely resolve everyone's first attack before starting on any model's second attack and so on.

7th edition adds a new phase to the turn sequence, the gunfight phase. There's a section in the rulebook detailing the various Citadel Miniatures firearms and ammunition available to players of the various armies and the points costs for each. Only official Citadel Miniatures guns and bullets may be used. Players are expected to negotiate amount of cover and medical supplies available in the room before the game starts. Oddly enough none of the rulebook guns can be used by Tyranid players. That badly hurts the competitiveness of Tyranid armies since mastery of the gunfight phase seems to be key to success in 7th edition.

The darkness between the stars

Alright then folks! So then, in the 7th edition we are going to continue the climatic and gritty feel. For now on, when a model gets destroyed on the battlefield, you must then destroy your model with a warhammer in righteous retribution. Now then, I suppose you will be needing a new tactical marine squad? Thank you loyal customer.

Each of the Chaos legions will get their own codex, including playable stats for the four Chaos gods.

To offset this increase in books, Eldar, Tau, Orks, and Dark Eldar will be combined into a single Codex. Tyranids will be kept separate since they can't play nice with anyone.

The Thousand Sons codex will be overpowered.

Escalation will include a rule to allow cats on the table in turn 6 on a 4+

Tournaments will be reinstated, and will be required to serve beer and pretzels so everyone remembers.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

All filthy heretical and xenos scum are purged with the moving on with the story line. The Imperium of man being the only surviving faction begins to reenact previous battles, techpriests create new variants of power armour to loosely represent the now missing factions.

Codex: Chaos Daemons
Codex: Chaos Space Marines
Codex: Dark Eldar
Codex: Eldar

And we will see the launch of the following codices:
Codex: Spiky Space Marines and Friends
Codex: Androgynous Spiky Space Marines
Codex: Androgynous Gem Loving Space Marines
Codex: Super Spooky Metal Robot Skeleton Space Marines
Codex: The Other Other Other Green Space Marines

To enable true balance all armies except Ultramarines will be discontinued and when playing a game both players must take identical lists, deploy in a mirror arrangement and every time a model is killed both armies remove that model. This will ensure all games end in a balanced draw to keep people happy.

I think you might be remembering that star trek chess (three dimensional), that is played on three levels. Its was available at think geek for a while.

Everything I say, barring quotes and researched information, is my personal opinion. Not fact.

Might be, it heavily reminds me of Metal Fatigue, but that was an RTS with the exact same specifications (underground, mid ground, and aerial), was much fun.

But I seem to remember an actual tabletop game being played in three dimension that was not chess, but it's been a while so I might be mis-remembering.

There will no longer be dice rolling for To Hit and To Wound. instead you will only use averages. For example, a squad of 10 Guardsmen 12" away from their target will generate 9-10 hits, where as a 10 man Tactical Squad would generate 13-14 hits.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

7th Edition will see a return of the critical injury chart for both vehicle and non-vehicle models. All models will see their points halved and a minimum game size will be instituted of 2,000 points. When a model is hit you must then roll on a chart to see what was hit using the "Marksmanship" tables. Only after verifying a critical hit (to the head, chest, power core, ammo cache, ect..) will you roll to see if the model must make a save to prevent death/destruction. Any other roll merely provides a "cinematic" element to the shooting phase. "ork boy at the front receives a glancing hit to his shin, this enrages him!"

Games will now take a week to complete, completely removing any hope of a tournament as intended.
