Craig Ferguson, witty and offbeat host of The Late Late Show informed his monday night audience that he is not going to renew his contract when it expires later this year.

Will try to get a link later

I will miss Ferguson and is Robot sidekick Geoff Peterson.
The show has been a unique slice of creative cake in the cookie cutter bakery that is late night tv.

He's pretty funny. I rarely watch any late-night talk shows anymore.

Makes sense. I'm pretty sure he got a massive pay day for not getting the Late Show so why not bow out and go do something else.

That said I really liked Craig Ferguson when I caught him. He's a funny dude. Honestly I'd have preferred him to almost anyone. And still might depending on how Colbert turns out.

not to totally derail this thread but has there been any mention of what format the tonight show with colbert is going to take? Not sure I can see a major network allowing him to keep his "colbert report" character

Not that I have seen. I'd love for him to keep his character but don't know if he'll get to or wants to.

I thought he said he wasn't going to do it "In Colbert Report Character". Also, David Letterman Show, not the Tonight Show.

Too bad. Craig was really good and didn;t follow the normal genre conventions for late-night talk show. He was one of the more innovative hosts or at least his team was.

I wish him good luck.

As soon as Craig took over I was hooked. Not just for the humor but for the honesty.

TV in general is mostly about deception but throughout his run there has been a refreshing amount of honesty and some true heartfelt moments.

In particular, I'm talking about the shows where Craig eulogized his parents after each of their deaths(his dads was in 2006 & his moms was in 2007 I believe).
He didn't just mention it in passing bit rather dedicated the majority/entirety of each show to deal with their passing.

Truly a couple of the most amazing televised moments I have ever seen.
