I imagined there would be a lot of Dwarf discussion lately, but I haven't seen much. Apologies if I'm missing threads!
So how did Dwarfs turn out? From what I understand they've basically gotten a facelift rather than an overhaul, which is probably for the best. I haven't been able to play much lately so I haven't seen it first hand. :(

They came out two months ago which is actually plenty of time to miss threads.
I've only played one game against them so I can't exactly comment on things other than stuff like "Hammerers die really fast when you feign flight with Warhounds and then flank charge them with Skullcrushers."

Wow I feel like I've been sucked into a time loop or something. Was wondering if it's even been a month!

They can do melee-centric armies better than before, thanks to improved infantry and the Gyros adding much-needed tactical movement options to control the table. But I am told - by a Dorf player that I played against recently - that they still need artillery. You can just reduce the dependency on the artillery to instead focus on troops. Same as undead will always need wizards. In terms of discreet unit analysis, I will say that the Irondrakes are a really nasty unit, and made my chariots into firewood distressingly quickly. :(

I was into them briefly, no calv and non exsistent participation in magic phase ( because of the really missed opportunity on the anvil) kinda bored me.
Infantry is some of the most top notch;
hammerers ( alittle fragile but 7x2 for flanking is nasty), that or taking a huge number of them
Ironbreakers ( amazing unit but towards the tail end I started to wonder their merits over just getting longbeards with sword / shield, since they have Itp) and the special section for dwarves, because of need of artillery and gyros ( so you don't just forfeit the tactical portions of movment) gets crowded so fast
Irondrakes , these guys are quite powerful with x2 rune of slow and either troll hammer torpedo for a suedo artillery weapon, or cinderblast just to make you always stand and shoot at short range, they will murder most in short order, and heaven help you if you fail charge ( because of runes no doubt) and take 3 shooting phases worth of masterblasting , will delete most things with imputinty
Just a few quick highlights, infantry all around is great, core great weapons I love, quarellers with gw was my absolute favorite, gyros are quite good ( don't like the bomber particularly), you need that artillery, some things you really don't want the displeasure of having to deal with in cc or atleast at full strentgh

I agree about the "face lift" comment, and that it was for the best. It looks like (I haven't seen the book so don't know for sure) the Wood Elves have gotten a similar treatment, and I like it. I think you should like the play style of a particular army, and if you don't...there are a dozen to choose from.
Personally, I've gotten re-inspired and have gotten out many of my old, dusty, badly-painted First Army Ever, and am trying to build up a good Dwarf force again. I think you've basically got to go for the "solid shield wall" (with a new rule to support it) and lots of thundering guns. There are some different options now, but no Monstrous Infantry, no Cavalry, and no Monsters.
So, they're different from other Warhammer Armies, but I think that's good.
