Sorry if this is obvious and I'm overlooking something...but when I bring my 4 quads and land and wound a Riptide can it be pinned? Please say yes and make my day.

Vanished Completely

There is no Rule making Monstrous Creatures immune to the effects of Pinning.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I'm away from my book atm. But unless they changed the wording of pinning since 5th(which is likely) a unit must take a casualty, not just a wound. I'm sure there is some wargear or psychic power that can force a pin check, but weapon wise a casualty must be inflicted.

You're right - they have changed it from 5th.
Pinning requires an unsaved wound, not a casualty.

A Place

I thought monstrous creatures couldn't go to ground, or was that only in fifth?

It's wounds not casualties in 6th rulebook. I realise that this is probably pointless...my big plan of pulling a heap of win out of a luckily failed wound on a riptide, followed by a failed -2pinning test falls short in the realm of snapshots and markerlights. damn it.

Fearless models can't.
And the majority of MC's are Fearless.
This is normally where the confusion comes from.

Made a mistake there with the -2..should read -1 for pinning! Cheers and gone.

What about them?

They can still go to ground and or be pinned, in fact pinning can be an effective way to keep those assault squads from charging you first(part of why HWS with mortars are still great behind blobs).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Nevermind. I was thinking of bikes.

Bikes can't gtg or be pinned, that's including units that contain a single bike, like a beast pack with jetseer.
