As we all know he nightscythe at a 100pts wraiths 35 a piece and annihilation barge at 90 pts is cheesy but are there better ways to play them as the meta has shifted, what do you guys think would be the greatest play style or is the tesla combo with wraiths the best?

Not sure exactly what you're after, here.
Do you want general meta for playing as or against Necrons?
Are you just after a list of the most commonly played army lists?
Are you talking tournament scene, or just what people tend to play around anywhere?

Deathmarks are solid. I hear that a lot of people really dislike them, but I've only seen good results from them. With good target selection, they can more than make up their points.

Spyders are also underestimated. As MCs they can stand to punch most things, have access to pretty decent guns and can poop out Scarabs to add reinforcements.

Speaking of, Scarabs are really good. Like, crazy good. They Beast all over the place, are tarpits that can strip Armour Saves and make goo piles out of vehicles. Keep out of the inevitable S6/7 hailstorm that will come at them and look at them go to town.

There are others but... yeah. That's my experiences from playing against Necrons, and what I've picked up from their rules.

Current Proposed Rules Project: Orkish AC-130 Spekta Gunship!

WAAAGH Sparky!
1400 (ish) - On the rebound!
Kommander Sparks DKoK
1000 (ish) - Now on the backburner

- Men, you're lucky men. Soon, you'll all be fighting for your planet. Many of you will be dying for your planet. A few of you will be put through a fine mesh screen for your planet. They will be the luckiest of all.

I agree with the scarabs. They are excellent as tarpits, and frankly vehicles straight up die to them, so those are always worth taking.

I find Deathmarks to be ok, but I have found (from having them used against me repeatedly) that they are best with the crytpek (harbinger of despair I think) that makes his template weapon hit and wound on 2's. Crazy good. Despicably good, but I find it too costly.

Ghosts Arks are another great vehicle. Quantum Shielding and the ability to res warriors makes for an awesome objective holder. Add to the fact that a fully loaded Ark can put out like 15 shots per turn and you have a real monster.

CronAir with ground armor I think is still one of the best ways to go in the current meta. I take three Night Scythes, one Doom Scythe, 2 Annihilation Barges, 2 Ghost Arks, a Catacomb Command Barge with generic Overlord, and the rest are Warriors, Immortals and Scarabs. Slightly light on scoring units, but it will murder things horribly.

Well, without much more to go on, I guess I can give you a rundown on the most commonly played lists...

• Wraith-Wing (units of Wraiths, lead by Destroyer Lords. MSU troops in Nightscythes, with Annihilation Barges rounding out heavy support).
• AV13 Wall (Ghost Arks, Command Barges, Stalkers. Possibly even Doomsday Arks or Monoliths).
• Spyder-Star (3x Spyders with backup HQ attached (usually Zahndrekh, Obyron, and a Destroyer Lord). A few Nightscythes with minimum troops, plus a couple Annihilation Barges).
• Silver Tide (Warrior blobs backed up with Orb Lords and Ghost Arks. Just march across the table).
• Scarab Farm (multiple Spyder units with multiple Scarab units, usually with Imotekh leading, for the guaranteed Night Fight).
• Deathscythe (multiple Death & Despair squads in Nightscythes. Doomscythes in support, if you want to be REALLY ridiculous).
• Royal Court Disco Inferno (a full accompaniment of Lords, all armed to the teeth, with a few useful Harbingers attached, all riding around in a hijacked Ghost Ark).

I'm a bit disappointed there's no good way to make a Destroyer Wing army, but thems the breaks (maybe next codex...).

Necron Sentry Pylons. Take them.

Hint: old kids globe and the Demolisher cannon you will never use anyway make for an excellent proxy.

I'm finding more and more value in running a Scarab Farm tactic. Using Zahndrekh to help remove Hit and Run while also granting scarab units Furious charge is just scary. 5 attacks on the charge at S4 for furious charge per scarab base makes everyone twitch just a bit and makes opponents with MCs sweat a bit.

I have recently been getting some decent results from running 2 Doom Scyths. Twice the cost of an AB; however, the deathray has been surprisingly effective when used in pairs.

Lastly (more for fun), you can pull all sorts of shenanigans by running 2 Monoliths in a list with Zahndrekh. Opponent brings something in from reserve, you proceed to drop your monoliths and (per the FAQ) use the portal after they are placed all on your opponent's turn.Using the portal is cheesy rules lawyering but RAW, it is allowed.

@skoff Zhandrek lets the monolith drop in after the opponent brings something in from reserves. The monolith with its FAQ lets it bring a unit through the gate after it drops down.

Edit: im not sure if this is legit but at a glance i don't see anything wrong with it RAW wise.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

Woah, I didn't catch that in the FAQ. RAW-wise, it would really allow you to use Dimensional Corridor even in the enemy turn. Weird.

Quote:

Add “Note that a Monolith can use its Dimensional Corridor on a turn that it deploys by Deep Strike.”to the end of the rule.

Certainly not RAI but RAW....hm. Difficult one. It conflicts with you not being allowed to do anything in your enemy's turn bar activating certain powers, yet it's more specific...hm. Weird.

I agree it's probably nit RAI but is interesting.

Regardless, dropping in monoliths on my opponent's turns is never something they expect and really causes them to rethink their plans. The look on a drop pod marine player's face after dropping in 2 on turn 1 was amusing to say the least.

Gotta check if you can teleport a Transcendent C'tan with a Monolith. That'd be massively hilarious.

God, they better FAQ this in 7th before people start abusing that loophole and try vacuuming enemy models on opponent's turns.

:O
Now this.
THIS is a legitimate "how it was meant to be played" tactic.
(provided you actually are able to send gargantuan creatures through the portal)

In the meta Necrons have taken quite a hit. Tau are near purpose built to kill Crons and certain eldar builds are very difficult to beat.

Our advantages remain with large amounts of str.7 shooting and mobility which makes us good counters to MEQ builds like scars or ravenwing which are popular.

I find myself, when I play with my Necrons, as needing to rely on allies to supplement shortcomings. However, we are nowhere near the bottom of the meta heap, just somewhere in the middle.

I never really thought about that, but with bringing the monolith in on your opponents turn, then being able to use the portal to move a unit on your opponent's turn, you would be able to assault with the ported unit on your turn. Just have the unit use the Monolith as a LOS breaker, move around the side on your turn and assault, assuming you get a reasonable deep strike result. If the unit you are porting is a spyderstar, you could repair whatever damage you took in the movement phase and then go to town.

I don't always have the best luck deep striking monoliths.

is the T c'tan a non-vehicle necron unit? there is your answer to that. it only cares if it is a non-vehicle necron unit.

It's a Gargantuan creature that's barely taller than a Wraith.

and its SMALLER then the C'tan shard model. I'm guessing they are count gargantuan based off of how many are cramed in there? Maybe its smaller because the more star gods you have the more mass you have so its gravitational field is super strong and compresses it? But yeah you can monolith a T C'tan through the door.
