Hello everyone. Just briefly; I am a 30 year old Brummie and started playing 40k in 1991 under 2nd edition. in the intervening years I played 40k and Fantasy until I met my missus 6 years ago when funding and free time mysteriously became a rare resource. I played the occasional other system, the short lived Urban war (pretty much dead now I guess) being my fave but not a lot else has happened.

so I am diagnosed with Generalised anxiety disorder and depression. My therapist says I MUST make room for a hobby. So the NHS has pretty much told me to play with toy soldiers to get better lol. Hope to make some friends here. Maybe some fellow Buddhists here on the boards too.

Hi man. I, too, suffer from GAD. I've found that hobbies in general are extremely helpful as distractions to keep my brain from spinning, and also spending nervous energy on something constructive and positive.

Modeling and painting minis, playing music, going fishing...yup, hobbies are good!

Welcome to dakka! This has happened to me a lot of times before so a word of advice: make sure your grammar's decent or the moderators will intervene.

Yeah, the problem I have is maintaining an interest in any endeavour. I started a small O.K force a year ago but quickly lost interest. I must make myself do things as part of my cognitive therapy. Likewise I have to force myself to go out and attend gaming groups but the Anxiety I get from driving, staying out late and meeting new people is an absolute killer.

@dastormlord hi there. Sounds a tad harsh, I hope you are wrong.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka.

It really isn't that harsh so don't worry, they only care if your posts are completely unreadable and annoying. So you'll be just fine anyways. Have fun.

Awesome, that's reassuring to know

Actually I have a secret, I have been a member of portent/warseer since year dot, I just fancied a change of scenery and escape from the bickering. The Google search results always bring up awesome posts from Dakka so I thought I'd give it a go

They send you a private message like this: Don't spam broads, next time you will be kicked. But don't worry, they sent me that like 5 times!

And I haven't been kicked ever so...

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
