A friend of mine got a sweet deal on a huge grey knights army from Kijiji!

Use kijiji and or craigslist in your local are and try to find some deals there is always good nuggets to buy on those sights!?

My personal army i started buying all straight from my local hobby store. First Grey knight terminators and then i bought two packs of grey knights which i turned into strike sqauds. Grey knights squads are nice to buy becasue to can make them into strike squads interceptor squads and purifier squads. Also Again with finding and buying old models i got a two dreadnaughts and a rhino ( painted ultramarines then i painted over with grey ( really easy )

I'm recently new to the year 40000k so it may not be the advice you were looking for but i'd thought i'd share my info!

I'd go on ebay first off and buy an army, and try to avoid the metal strikes though. They all have halberds which cost extra.

Before that you need to figure out what kind of army you want though. Do ya want a power armor army, or a henchmen army? That will guide your buying.

Friend, NE

I would like a Power Armour Army with the proper transportation and heavy metal.

Figure out what your list will be, then purchase those models. It will save you time and money in the end and get you to the table sooner with something that you will enjoy playing. I've been able to get some amazing deals on eBay, but I've been willing to wait several months to make purchases too. So, if you've got some time, then good things will come along with some patience.

Wolfgang is right, get your list first! figure out what you want out of it too.. do you want a comp list? or something more fun?

I find a lot of my lists circle around a few things.. Dreadknights with teleporter and heavy incinerator. Psy rifle dreads, vindicare and henchmen.

Oh and magnets!!! quick backpack switch and your ss are now interceptors!

i cheated a little and all my grey knights have magnetised backpacks. they all have white helmets ( i love crowe) so i use purifiers mainly. but if i dont use crowe they are just ss or interceptors

Vindicare assassin. If you want to make someone absolutely hate you use him.. hes so funny.

Right now I would like to have an army that has as many foot troops as possible with a dreadknight and a couple of dreadnoughts too. A couple HQ and proper transports.

Build a list in army builder or battlescrib app Or grab your codex. And see what you can do!
List for you would be like
X4 squads of strikes in rinos with 2psycannons
2dreadknights
1dreadknought with dual autocannons
Idk what the points add up too.
But you seem to already have a good idea what you want.

If you want to keep it cheap go paladin spam. Otherwise make a list using the stuff you like the look of. Grey knights aret all that gamey these days so it's not like you will stumble upon a list your opponent will hate playing

This isn't true. I get all kinds of complaints about my Henchmen "deathstar," which is really just some Crusaders and some DCA in a Chimera with a Divination Inquisitor. People can't seem to get over the Storm Shield saves combined with I6 Power Swords/Mauls.
Sometimes I switch it up and take an =][= version of the unit. No Mauls, but two Priests and a Dedicated LRC. This gets even more incredulous glares.

Anyhow, the backbone of any good GK list is GKSS. You want 10 models and two psycans in each unit, with Psybolts if you have the points. This gives you the tactical flexibility of Combat Squadding and/or Deep Striking on your scoring units. Deployed on your objective also PREVENTS DSing into your sensitive areas.

Coteaz is basically a must-take for our aging codex. PML2 on Divination is fantastic. Or stick with book powers, because HH and Sanctuary are also quite good. (But really, a TL Strike Squad does a surprising amount of damage.) He also allows for some super-cheap scoring bodies. At 5ppm, Warriors with bolters can come on from reserve and hold your rear objective with your better units go kill stuff.

The Vindicare will never do you wrong. For example, in my game last night, he got First Blood T1 against a Land Raider. My opponent was quite surprised.

And, as stated, DKnights and Psyflemen are pretty good.
The one problem with DKnights is how scary they are. This means that your opponent will overload him with lascannons and plasma, making his impressive T6 and 2+ save a waste. If you bring a DKnight, you also need other things that will distract your opponent's heavy weapons. A second DKnight, a Land Raider full of Termies, Mordrak, and GKI (who will shunt into assault positions on T1) are potential options.
