My buddy does this to a lot of my friends. He takes a daemon prince and just power buffs it with Gift of Mutation until it's about ready to kill everything in sight, and has a squad of terminators follow behind that. So I deploy 300 Conscripted meat sacks with priests and watch as he spends the entire game cleaving through that while I twiddle my thumbs on the objectives.
The moral of this story?
Tarpit it with a LOT of cheap units.

Dude, there's a face on my red dot...

Heavy Duty barrage weapons and the Focused fire rules both combine to hurt Deathstars pretty well. Nothing is a guarantee, but those two tools can go a long way.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.

I would have to say Imperial Knight is your best bet versus death stars.

His lack of troops.

Obviously YMMV, but in my experience (and i've done this too), they usually scrape points off the mandatory troops to kit out the deathstar unit. The key would be to kill his troops so that in 5/6 missions you play he won't take the vast majority of VPs (obvious exception being PtA).

I did just that to a FSE Power-Squad (Farsight and all the IC suits with Shas O'vesa). By mid T2 he had no troops left and I luckily sniped O'vesa with a TFC. It was practically gg for him.

I win with a normal FSV on secondaries. Although, I've always had troops left because I'm running a firstorm redoubt

Not use what the FSV abbreviation is, is it some tournament or mission layout like BAO style missions or LVO? Color me confused/uninformed.

So far it looks like the top non-Deathstar Deathstar responses are:
• D strength weapons
• focus on their troops
• bring so many troops they can't deal with them all
• army specific answers (if you're lucky enough to be playing one of those armies that HAS an answer to Deathstars). eg. Death & Despair Squads.

Did I miss anything?

Sorry mate, should read FSB. I run a minimum troops deathstar that can win on objectives.

The standard easy bake dominion squad in flamer immolator.

The easiest and cheapest way to down any star is to drown it in wounds. roll enough dice and they will fail, no mater what.

Pretty sure we already know that this is the best unit to kill a deathstar with.

On a more serious note...MSU kills deathstars...because they tend to overkill 1-2 cheap units at a time.
