Which Russ Should I go for?
Ok I made a Leman Russ Demolisher out of M3 Lee/Grant. The Plan was to use it a Close Support Tank for a large 50 model Conscript Squad. Basic Loud out was going to be Demolisher Cannon, and 3 Heavy Flamers along with the Heavy Stubber. Now with the Demolisher Cannon being Ordinance, I can not fire the three Heavy Flamers when I fire it. So now I am going to Replace the Demolisher, but am not sure what to Replace it with, here are the three I was looking at.
Eradicator
Punisher
Executioner
I like the Eradicator because of the Large Blast Ignore Cover.
I like the Punisher, well it is a Punisher
I like the Executioner because I love Plasma
Opinions?

The answer is that all are good for their specific purpose, so it's sort of apples and oranges. I'm building some proxy tanks right now, and I'm either magnetizing the weapons or having extra scratch built turrets for each option.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome. |

The Eradicator and Punisher are both good choices in the new codex. The Punisher has lots of efficient shooting and is amazing with Pask, while the Eradicator is just absurdly cheap. The Executioner can be effective, but you'll need to support it with a divination psyker or "gets hot" is a crippling drawback.
Also, get rid of the heavy flamers. You'll never be in range to use them effectively, so any of the other options will do more damage over a whole game.

flamers might be an intreasting option for a tank geared for long range fighting, but you have to accept you're paying 20 points mostly for something that will dischourage people from charging with kark grenades

Tanks don't get overwatch.

yeah I know my point was more "making em more inclined to keep their distance"
truthfully if I was gonna waste points on sponsons weapons purely for anti infantry defence though, I'd proably go with heavy bolters

But why would they keep their distance? The threat of the tank moving up to use those flamers effectively, especially against a spread-out unit, is virtually nonexistent, and if you do charge it you're probably going to destroy it before it gets a chance to shoot back. The only thing heavy flamers on a LRBT do is make me thankful that my opponent wasted points on them instead of bringing something useful.
