Whatever they're doing isn't even out yet, and you're asking if people are already deciding they are going to start new armies based on rumors with no foundation yet? I think it's a bit silly to be worrying about it until it comes out.

How would you even start an army for 7th? There's literally nothing confirmed for any changes to the rules, so how would you even adjust for that?

My two armies are collection of various units, so while what I choose regularly might change, I'm pretty edition proof at this point.
The only thing that would change this would be a new faction with awesome fluff and gorgeous models, and that ain't happening.

I was going to start a tyranid army when I heard about the new codex, but once I got it. . . I never bought any models. Maybe if 7th edition helps out assault I might consider starting them

I have always wanted a DE army, I think I will start it soonish as even under 6th ed rules of them and my marines being desperate allies I would never plan to have them close enough to force the roll, the DE would be off down the table in melee while my IF tactics marines blow things up.

Sorry if it's a bit early, but this was just a question to if you were going to start a new army.
It wasn't meant to be a "we haven't seen the rules, so how do we know" question.

There are a few armies I would like to start but 7th ed would really have to impress me to draw me back to it.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Actually the level of rule abuse potential of sixth killed any enjoyment I had in 40k.
Seventh is going to be the make or break edition for me. If things stay pretty much the status quo, I feel my entire collection will soon be up on eBay.

No , but will most likely bring current armies up to date. 2 diff marine armies (8000 & 2000) , guard (15000) , nids (2500) , dark eldar (2800) , ork (3000) , 2x chaos marines (2000 , 1800) , chaos deamons (1500).

Actually I'm more likely to finish the ones I have and then stop, unless 7th really wows me. 6th didn't, but then DE and Orks are my main armies
Warmahordes is appealing to me more lately, and infinity looks cool too.

No, because I already own those and won't need to rebuy them.
I'm hoping the rules improve to fix a few glaring issues with 6th, but if all that changes is that escalation and stronghold assault are in the BRB then that's ok too.

Good lord no. I have five armies needing various amounts of paint, assembling, and repair. The last thing I need is to start another! (Although with any luck, my TGG models for my IG army will be here around then. Or at least have shipped...)

I'm not even certain I'll buy the BA codex anymore, and I've been waiting for it. I'm thinking more and more that I might just keep one army and sell the other. 40k is not a good game. It seems to me when I have fun it is in spite of the game, not because of it.

Yes. Let me start an all new army for a reprint of the same rules with some expansions thrown in.
Seems legit.
If it turns out to be something more than that then no. new rules won't make me suddenly like an army more or less than I do now. I play the armies that appeal to me, not the ones that have the best rules or whatever.

I tend to start armies with new codices rather than editions, so no. Also, with Inquisition, Heresy IF and Space Wolves Wolves all paint-in-progress and two thirds of an Ultramarine battle company to collect still, I have no time for a new army.
