Tittle basically says it all. how should i kit out what i have and how should i grid them (was thinking leadbelchers 2x2 so they can manuever better and everythiung else 3x2) also what hq should i be picking up? to me it seems the tyrant is the best choice for right now.

any help on where to go or any suggestions wouldbe appreciated. i will also be starting a blog as i have been very excited to start and ogre army for quite some time.

thanks all!

look through this board and read some of the ogre threads. we have had a few very good conversations about ogres. Also leadbelchers cant be 2x2 they have to be at least 3 wide in the front

They don't have to be 3xN wide. They can have whatever width they want. They just can't get rank bonuses unless they have at least 3 wide. Seriously read up there are a few very good recent ogre threads.

You will need a magic using HQ. I suggest the Slaughtermaster.

This seems like a good list so far. The only question is what magical items are you planning on having? How many points do you plan on collecting/hopefully painting (Ogres are nice by not having to paint as many models)? Figuring these questions out will help people to give their insight on the matter. I will also recommend reading previous Ogre army threads. The more pages it has, most likely has continuation and alteration of the original army composition.

Looks pretty good based from the Battalion box. Keep the Slaughtermaster, as you'll need a Lvl4 caster. Give him a Dispel Scroll and a Ward Save though. I'd also try and add in a BSB there as well.

Unless he can be made extremely durable, always bunker down your Level 4. Yours is tougher than literally every other level 4 that isn't a Daemon Prince and maybe a Vampire Lord, but he's still a target.

I would keep him with the orgres, so his buffs will help your main combat block.

thanks, the move from 4ok to fb is confusing the hell out of me when it comes to adding characters to units, i keep making my movement trays the size of the unit then it seems like i need more room

Don't forget your character can sit on the side of the unit, this isn't really a good idea but it means you don't have to make another movement tray!

No, the character is the only model that can hang on the edge.

Character models ONLY go on the side of the unit and don't displace RnF if the base sizes are different. otherwise, they displace a model in the unit who gets shifted to the rear.

Any excess models will create an additional rank on the rear of the unit.

So something like this,

Unit without character

XXX
XXX
XXX

Unit with character

CXX
XXX
XXX
X

Unit with character with different sized base

XXXC
XXX
XXX

Note that the character cannot displace command models(champion, standard, or musician) and so will go in the second rank if only command models are in the front. When the unit gets into combat he can use the "make way" rule to displace them, but not until that happens.

Trays just exist to allow for ease of movement, they are not part of the rules. Treat as if they don't exist in all cases.
