Hiya
Just had a thought - I know how I would play this but I'm curious to hear other interpretations...
If I have a character with a high BS, let's say a Phoenix Lord with 7:
I roll once to hit, rolling a 1 (needing 2+);
I roll again to hit, rolling a 3 (needing 6+)
If he is firing a twin-linked weapon, or has been Blessed with something like Guide, can I re-roll this die again? The rules say that no dice may be re-rolled more than once in any circumstance - I don't see this second roll as a re-roll, however, simply the extension of the original roll. So the first "failure" is actually the second roll, at which point I can then roll the dice *again*, once again able to roll them twice to hit (using the BS of 7).
How do you guys play this?

It is a re-roll, not an 'extension of the original roll'.

If he is firing a twin-linked weapon, or has been Blessed with something like Guide the re-roll of a 3 would be a hit, since the weapon he is firing a twin-linked weapon, or has been Blessed with Guide or Prescience. or anything that lets you re-roll all failed to hit rolls. Why wouldn't you use the re-roll from the twin-linked weapon, or the re-roll from Guide or Prescience instead of the re-roll from his high Ballistic Skill?

BRB calls this extra roll a "re-roll", so you can still only have one, the twin-linked hitting on 2+ or the 6+ from BS 7.

BS7 means your natural re-roll would need a 5+, not a 6+.
6 needs 6
7 needs 5
8 needs 4
9 needs 3
10 needs 2
I know this because, unfortunately, my Vindicare (BS8) seems to miss a lot.

You woulnd really have missed until you have rolled that second roll, So first you see if you miss or not before you reroll using twin-linked. And then you would roll all dice again, meaning that if you should now roll another 1 you still get to reroll that dice again in hopes of getting a 5+ due to BS7.
Well, thats how I play it anyway.

Which is clearly against the rules as per page 5 of the BRB

Not to mention the actual rule about having a BS greater than 5, which explicitly tells you how it interacts with other sources of re-rolls to hit.
There's no need to go to the rules about re-rolling re-rolls when the BS rules outline everything you need to know.

BS higher than 5 grants you a reroll. Twin linked grants you a reroll. You decide which you want to use. Personally I would use the TL since its a higher chance to hit.

About the same as TL BS4 I assume? hits about 90% of the time.

You'd think that...but she misses 28% of the time, according to my records. All the training in the Imperium, and she's too drunk to hit a Land Raider.
Maybe I just need to get some new dice....

Death Reaper has the more relevent rules involved, if you continue reading the text(or just plain read the text) of High BS you see that you can use the Twin-Linked(or any other source of re-rolls) instead of the High BS.

BS8 will hit 11/12 of the time (91.666...%). TL BS4 will hit 8/9 times (88.888...%), so yeah, roughly 90%.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
