So a friend and I are doing a Pre-Heresy project, he's going to collect the Fallen side of the Sons of Horus whereas I will collect the Loyalist side, namely the 10th Company headed by Garviel Loken.

I just wondered if there was anything special about the 10th Company in terms of their armour or structure, for example is there any unit they fielded over others? Did they specialize in anything in particular? I've looked on the internet but have not found anything, and I don't want to have to buy and read through all the books to find anything,

Thanks!

Not to be a dick, but they did actually make a book that has a few details on this very sort of thing... Especially if you plan to do any gaming in the Horus Heresy era. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Horus_Heresy_Books/THE_HORUS__HERESY_BOOK_ONE_BETRAYAL.html

That being said, I don't recall there being any specific specialization.

Betrayal contains ZERO information on the question asked. I don't believe the 10th company is even mentioned in the book - Loken's entry merely refers to him as a senior captain without mentioning of which company.

I've not gotten round to reading Galaxy in Flames yet (mea culpa) but IIRC (on both factoids) in Horus Rising the 10th's Terminator squad is refered to as just that: 'the Terminator squad' so the company has one squad, but only one. Also IIRC when the Luna Wolves and Emperor's Children find a Mk3 eyepiece on Murder they know it can't be theres because neither of their forces have that mark of armour.

Ah, thank you for your help. And in reply to the first poster I have the file on my computer for Betrayal but couldn't find anything on them so I decided I'd ask the knowledgeable dakkanauts about it.

Not the whole of the 10th were actually loyalists because in Galaxy in Flames it said that the 'first wave' (loyalists wave) was made up of lots of units from alot of their companies and the only squad from the 10th detailed was Locasta squad (lead by Nero Vipus) BUT it does note that they had devastator squads, recon squads, and id say they would have had atleast 1 squad of pretty much everything except Justaerans, Reavers and tanks, i dont remember reading that they had any tanks at all... haha

Good luck with your project though and i hope this helps

My colours I wear openly, they proclaim louder than any words, "I am proud to live - I am proud to die!"

Haha thanks, not sure what other companies specialise in what though so I wouldn't know which units to label which. We're also doing it on Davin, where Horus turns to Chaos, not the battle of Istaavan III. The models of the loyalists and traitors will be painted differently, for example the heretical SoH will have the Coelian (I think is the planet) sigils and runes on them, and more trophies than the loyalist ones.
