My friend and I are think about starting FoW. I already play 40k and was wondering what I should to. Would it be best to just buy a box set or start from scratch? Also, he wants America and I'm thinking Germany. Suggestions are welcome and I don't know if the rules are online or is it a book.

There is a mini rulebook - has all the rules of the 'big' rulebook, except more portable and more prone to falling apart.

Open fire is a great place to start as it has pretty balanced armies, including German assault guns and infantry and British tanks and US paratroopers.

Even if you are planning US tanks or German Tanks it's a good place to start. Then buy things you want.

Don't forget other companies like plastic soldier company, skytrex etc all produce the right models too

Getting it ring bound is inexpensive enough.

The open fire box (or a pair of them) seems like a good move so long as the US player wants to play Airborne. Ebay will no doubt give you a fair price for the British tanks you won't need.
