Looks like Open beta will be the 8th - 18th.

Just a FYI if anyone wanted to give this a try for free.

So far its a solid game, content isn't easy mode and plenty to do. This has to be the first game that i have actually liked the early levels of 1-15

Looks cool .. so I guess it's a MMO? Is it like a RTS like stacraft? Or more like a RPG where you form guilds to build bases?

Looks cool. Kinda like what happens when Saturday Morning Cartoons meets World of Warcraft.

I thought WoW was Saturday morning cartoons, seriously. At work so I cant go to the game link hehe.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Oh ..hmm .. I'll try the beta, I'm sure it will be fun, but I don't think I can get into a big mmo rpg like Warcraft. They suck too much of my life away, and my back won't be able to take those long hours in front of a monitor. And I don't care for the monthly fee or farming for game time. I might be more into it if they made an xbone version though.

World of Warcraft has a rich lore backing it and tries to take itself seriously.

Wildstar looks to be WoW but...indifferent or irreverent to its own background and theme. Fun is a keyword here that it is lightheartedly trying to project.

WoW can attempt to be "fun" and "lighthearted" but the core of WoW is a tragic story that only gets more tragic the more you delve into it. Many of the major characters are haunted by their own past and current actions and no one appears to be truly heroic. Your fighting for your faction and survival rather than for a greater good most of the time (racing to beat the final bosses does not smack as altruism, although to be fair, those final bosses usually mean bad things if they were actually allowed to succeed storyline wise).

Wildstar has clearly defined villains and heroes (rebels vs imperials), it's preview material and design team videos don't take themselves seriously (but that is the point, isn't it?) and since the back story is not that deep to begin with, they don't have to be all that dark and edgy yet to project how the past influences the future. Your a good/bad guy, we're here to claim a new home/conquest, so just roll with it. They;'re selling the fun parts and differences from WoW, not trying to make you feel bad for being who you want to play.

Yes. I played Warcraft I when it first came on several hard disks. WC has been centrally about the epic tale. I still have the old WC I, II, and III softcover manuals that spoke of nothing but how much genocide was propagated before you get brought up to speed with the latest version of the game.

And yes, while Warcraft tries to take itself seriously, they also try to have fun. WC does allow humor within the franchise. My favorite lines come from WC II. If you click their portraits enough time, you get such gems as

Alliance Ships
"Stop rocking the boat!"
"You're making me seasick!"
(vomiting)

Ah...classic.

Wildstar looks very promising. I'm really looking forward to the beta and if it's good, I might even pre-order it.

Played a beta weekend, tried out the spellslinger, really enjoyed the class, dual wielding pistols light armour lots of dps abilities but also some good healing abilities too.
The spellslinger really reminded me of the cygnar gun mages imo, but yeah like Warone said it's pretty much tongue in cheek.

But continuity is important and Warcraft spawned WoW.

Just because it's a sequel to something decent doesn't mean it itself is decent.

See: the Highlander series.

That's an apt example...
Wildstar looks like a game I could get into. I'll probably join the beta and see how things are.

Just because someone personally dislikes it, doesn't mean it's bad.

And just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good, either.

For example: Justin Beiber.

Wildstar seems to have potential; not a fan of the aesthetics though...

I'll try out the beta and see what it's like, i just dunno if I'd be able to get into another WoW. Just don't have the time.

Has there been any mention of endgame stuff? Eventually everyone's gonna max their levels and need something to do.. I personally hated the raid & tiered gear thing that WoW became. to me leveling was always the most fun, after that it became a boring farmfest.

I kinda see what you mean. They look a bit less cartoony than I remember WoW being.
I'm kinda okay with it since it seems to match the overall sense of humour from the trailers and the promotional stuff unlike WoW which was trying to be an epic saga but felt like an acid trip... a really boring one at that.

I do have to say the game play is smooth and many things to do.

There is paths, adventure mode, 40man raids, 20man raids, 5man instances, World pvp, battleground pvp, arena pvp, Warplots, crafting.

Along with more things i haven't tried yet.
Ive also heard instances etc aren't easymode and have some difficulty to them, and the Dev reply to someone asking to make the content easier had the flat out simple answer of "No"

I thought i would hate the graphics, but by the time i was level 10 i really like the art style now.

Its not for everyone, but its worth a try due to free beta.

That's not a bad thing to me. I just am not a huge fan of designs like the Chua.

I just want to curb-stomp the little bastards. They're like a corrupted, un-fun version of Skaven...

And just because it doesn't match your own personal standards of good, it doesn't mean that it doesn't for others

The races somehow feel rather similar to the GW 2 races, if you ask me...and I am so going for a Necron Mechari Engineer.

downloading now, I will never pay a sub fee for a game and especially for an MMO but this is something I think I can get on the boat of for the tie being.

How does the play for free thing work? You earn in game gold to pay your monthly fee? Does that mean you end up farming constantly so you can play free?

Do you honestly think "well that's just your opinion" is some kind of rebuttal of anything I said?

I know I'm stating my opinion, stop assuming I'm a moron just because I have an opinion different than yours.
