Isn't this nonsense?
1. He leaves Terra. He leaves the system. Likely traveling via the warp.
2. Did all commerce and travel stop when he left?
Isn't it more likely the souls of psykers are used as a power source, to shield terra from the busted ass door Magnus left behind?

The Emperor guides it.
The Astronomicon works somehow without Big E, but weaker and maybe less reliable in general.
I am pretty sure I have read the story where Malcador requests to refokus the Astronomicon and to do this they accpted the loss of life of psykers.
Just can't remember where..

According to hh books the emp put a portion of his power into the astronomnicon, so possibly it may go on for a short while without him untill the power runs out.

the emperor was the strongest psy ever lived since the Ancients, keeping a light on from across the universe wasn't a big feat
man he used telepathy across the frigging galaxy, he could talk with malcador in real time at the far sides of the galaxy, even for Eldrad that would be quite a feat if not utterly impossible, man it takes weeks for the strongest human psykers to send a message that far away, months usually

Well, the biggest reason to be on the throne now isn't the Astronomicon, but the massive, broken human webway that has constant demonic intrusions.

According to the wiki (which isn't guaranteed to be factual but...), the Emperor was originally powerful enough to guide the astronomicon even when far away. But as the needs of the Great Crusade grew and more ships travelled the galaxy that needed it and whatever else, it gradually became too much for the Emperor to handle while also directing a war far away from it. Or... something like that.
As an aside, when mankind was using navigators before the Emperor came around, the warp was much more calm, which I guess explains how they warp travelled before the Emperor. Not sure if that's explicitly stated though.

It might not be the primary reason but it's a definite second. At his prime the Emperor could keep the astronomicon going easily, after being beat down by Horus it's a touch more difficult hence why he is needed.

Also keeping the webway sealed was hard work, he was confined to chair in the seige, if it was not hard, surely he could power it and lend his massive power to the defence and bring emperor strength wrath on the traitors,
As well as back up primarchs, superhuman, but he was a step up.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |
