My favourite to paint so far in a good long time, my Escher gang leader - Hasslefree's Andreah if you're interested.

Also, I noticed I missed the handle on her gun, it is no longer skin coloured! Not the best paintjob ever by far, but nice and tidy I hope!

Everything displayed in this thread is simply stunning. I hope I am not being too melodramatic in saying the passion and enjoyment the artists felt can almost be physically seen in these.

This site is such a dichotomy.

The words we have for our hobby are often bitter, pessimistic and full of contempt* while the exemplary art and artistry exhibited throughout cannot hide our dedication and love.

When I feel kind sullied after reading one of those apocalyptic, angry threads, I need only browse one like this to rejuvenate my spirit. These threads are like a warm bath for the soul, and I hope our hobby and our passion for it will allow more like this and less of the others.

I liked this the most because of everything I've painted to date, I was telling a story with the model and base.

I would say this beast. I had even more fun building it.

Followed very closely by this one.

I am building more to fit this army theme.

A hemophobic Khorne berzerker, a germophobic plague marine and a sexy Skaven walk in to a Games workshop.....

While I do enjoy freehanding stuff, I get tired of it so easily (and now that I'm doing a Westerosi army with freehanded shields... ugh). So nowadays I enjoy simple models with few but very crisp details to paint up:

I spent the other day painting up this guy:

Not the most fun I have ever had painting a model, but I enjoyed it.
I was mostly just wanting to try out some new pigments and went for a 'clawed his way up from the depths of the ocean' look. And of course doing that I had to get something Lovecraftian as a chapter symbol

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Hmmm, when it comes to freehand I think this is my favorite model so far:

Infinity in my opinion does have the best Sci-fi sculpts in the market today.

The model in the photo is definitely not finished (just look at the base!), but I guess she's 90% done. I need to take photos of my finished products...

I am gonna have to go with this one in recent times

It was my first time trying a sort of wet blending technique and I think it turned out pretty well. I used it on a lot of other models afterwards.

It is one of those things where it is fun to see an experiment in progress working.

Well then I think mine will have to beee the Flower Knight.

The model has amazing detail and it was a challenge to get the greens to stand out from one another.
Spoiler:

My second model will be the Dkok Quarter Master, Such a fantastic model and was a joy to paint, the biggest challenge was getting the highlighting smooth on the clothes and achieving a decent glow on the plasma pistol
Spoiler:

I have more models that I have enjoyed but I think these are my ultimate favorites.

Thank you very much for the compliments. I have been working hard to get everything painted to tabletop standard. I am gonna have to go back and fix some parts as well as add highlights and detail work.

I post everything in my painting thing here on dakka http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/585859.page

Im pretty new to 40k, so i've only painted a few minis so far, but I'll have to say this is the one I most enjoyed, first because its a character I had created a few years ago in some fluff I've written and because he was the first mini I ever painted.
