Chaplains, Is there a place inside any list? What about an assault bike list? Intr-Chap on a bike w/ PFG plus some RW Black Knights? A command squad with the RW banner for auto Hit-n-run? Is there a list already incorporating this idea? What are yalls thoughts?

Honestly, I think right now librarians will fit better in any situation, for less points.

I love the idea behind chappys tho, so I feel where your coming from. If I was to run one, I would make him into a semi-beat stick and stick him with with another hard hitting unit. An intr-chap has the following benefits that you want to use the best of: ability to get a PFG, reroll hits on charge for unit, decent WS and # of attacks at str6.

I'd consider:
On foot with a unit of deathwing knights, with the mace of redemption, if the unit was to be riding in a LR and not deep striking. Obv add termy armor if they are ds'ing.

On bike, PFG, with ravenwing command or black knights. Probably would add an auspex as well so he can help them shoot things with plasma.

On bike, pfg, mace of redemption, with ravenwing command and sammael in the unit. This unit could hit very hard, with hit and run letting them get charges over and over. Lot of hits on the charge, and you will have AP2, AP3, and rending.

The PFG is also just a luxory to save your bannerman. It can be dropped easily since he and sammael will have an invuln anyway, and the jink save is always there to boot.

The last two setups with him on bike would also be good because he can separate from the unit as needed and chase down a backfield unit. With the mace of redemption, he can actually break off and threaten backfield tanks as well. I imagine the unit going in, beating up a solid unit, and then splitting up behind their lines to wreak havoc. 5 attacks on charge WS 5, rerolling to hit, at str7 and ap3 = 3 dead devastator marines. + Hammer of wrath hit. You either killed most of the heavy weapons, or he sacrificed the sergeant who would be the only way to stop you from mopping up the rest next turn. For tanks, you have to practice rolling 3+'s, but you are marines so you should already be good at that.

I wouldn't make him your warlord though. As he is a melee guy, he's going to want to attract attention and be in the enemies face.

I agree. I just hate that they are like the Company Masters and never see any use because the Libby's are their better in every way, even at only 2 ATK and 2 W.
Maybe with the new rules we will see more use out of these guys as we may be able to take more HQ units.
In all honesty, the Company Masters and Chaplains should be a unit UPGRADE or even like the TechMarines (no slot usage if you run another HQ).
But, these are just my thoughts.

I love throwing an Int. Chappy with the Mace and termie armor in a unit of Knights, then all into a Crusader. Man does it wreck face, but it is quite the investment.

I have models for chaplains on bike and in terminator armour, both with the mace of redemption. They look nice, but this edition really doesn't favour beatstick melee characters. Particularly overcosted ones with little utility.

Run them in a fluffy army, or don''t run them at all. The librarian can do everything they do, and more.

Watch out for 7th edition though, possible changing things to make assault more viable will make intr-chappys very interesting options. Especially with rerolling to hit on the charge.

I forsee chappys on bikes and in terminator armor to appear a lot more.

Remember though, it is rumoured that librarians will provide deny the witch dice for the whole army, so they may still be more viable. Time will tell.

True Bill. We do have to wait and see what the future holds. From the sound of it, librarians might be mandatory again to create deny the witch rolls, but also it seems like psychic powers are going to be tougher to get off if you don't have mastery lvl 3-4.

While I don't play competitively in my 1000 pts green + ravenwing list I field an int chaplain with veterans in a drop pod. In an ideal world, they fall from the heavens find the nearest tank, rip it open with meltas and plasmas and then if there was a unit inside they charge and then use melee weapons on face.

In my blob of 9 vets + int chaplain that's 2x9 + chaplain. Easily enough to steamroll the squishy blob of gunmen you likely had cowering inside (fire warriors, shoota boyz, etc).

People really don't expect or enjoy cc combat I find when their running a 6th edition shooty army. If their troops are isolated whole squads just fold like paper.

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts
