Hello everybody, I'm really new to the tabletop but I got around 900 points of AM but I don't know what to get next and how to use them with effectiveness.

So that is what I got :

-HQ:CCS
1 regimental standart,vox,2 plasma vets
-3 Infantry squads
1 with grenade launchers and 2 with flamers
-2 heavy weapons squad
1 lascannon and 1 autocannon
-1 veteran squad with plasma guns
-1 chimera
- 2 scout sentinels with autocannons
-1 leman russ demolisher
-aegis defence line
-1 bastion

I want to go for semi defence semi offensive list with what I got here.Could someone point me a direction for what I should get next. I am kinda lost.
Thanks for your help

I think most people will tell you vendettas.

Its not a bad place to start. You can never go wrong with more troops for AM.

Chimeras or the new Taurox are useful, they add mobility, cover, and firepower.

1 Demolisher is going to be a fire magnet, you could also start by adding in a couple more tanks to split up your opponents, anti-tank fire.

There are many ways to go from here it depends on your personal preference, your play style, and level of competitiveness.

Don't forget, you need a platoon command squad for your infantry. I recommend giving them either heavy weapons and sniper rifles, or flamers.

I'd recommend Chimera Vets as it looks so cool.

You look pretty good on infantry for the army size. I would recommend a Leman Russ Battle Tank or Vanquisher (same boxed set, different bits) to add some tough, long-range, anti-vehicle fire to your list. The manticore artillery rocket tank hits really hard, and will destroy vehicles, but is much more vulnerable, and is very points-heavy. Possible next buys...

- Any leman russ tank (except the autocannon one, exterminator). Based on your current list, you could use long range, anti-vehicle firepower. I prefer the battle tank because of the long range, large blast, S8 Ap3, which is good against infantry and tanks. Lots of people like the executioner's plasma cannons for hitting elite infantry, monstrous creatures, and light vehicles. Vanquisher is great at anti-tank (which might be good based on your current list). The eradicator is great against light infantry and is low points cost. The punisher is good, but I don't think it's a good idea to have only two short range tanks. I would buy the battle tank kit, and then magnetize the main gun so you can swap between battle tank, vanquisher, and executioners.

- An artillery tank: Wyvern or Manticore...I recommend the wyvern 'cause it's super cheap on points and super effective against all infantry.

- Chimera, get the pintle heavy stubber, for only 70 points you'll get another armored vehicle that can transport and hits like a heavy weapon squad.

Thanks everyone. I thought about a tactic.

I guess that I sould get another veteran squad with plasmaguns to grab objectifs with the support of the artillery.

I'm thinking of adding 2 vendettas.
Artillery
Aaaaand tanks, I guess 2 should do it.

So this was the what-to-buy list.

But now what about the loadout of my guys ?
I should give my infantry squads autocannons and the HWS with lascannons are going to stick behind the ADL,defending the artillery units.
I want the CCS to be on the bastion manning the Icarus gun but I don't know what to give them.
And the PCS with an autocannon and flamers should give a bit of firepower to the platoon.
The vets are going to hold objectives, so they need to survive.
And the tanks are going to go in a squadron with my demolisher leading them and killing everything what comes in range.

So what gear I should give them ? And should I take a priest and some commissars ?

Priests/commissars are great for infantry blob, priest for an assault blob, commissar for a blob behind an ADL so you can still go to ground.

Vets surviving can be done for cheap, with the carapace armor upgrade or the camo upgrade. and use the chimeras for cover and blocking LoS.

You dont want to squad your tanks unless you have to. (by having 5)

I would buy another Russ first. then work on adding in the vendettas and artillery.

After a long time of finding out an strategy, I am wondering about the loadout of my 2 PCS (as I have 2 platoons). As above, I gave them a lascannon but I don't know about the two other slots. Remember that they are going to sit behind their platoon. So I thought about giving them sniper, 2 points each and a chance of pinning infantry if there isn't any vehicle to shoot at, or giving them grenade launchers. So what do you think is better ?

You need a Platoon command squad in addition to your CCS.

The best PCS combo for long range fire support is probably an auto cannon and two snipers. This will make them good against infantry and monstrous creatures. I hesitate on a las cannon, just because it's a lot of points on a BS 3 guardsman.

Alright, so should I give the lascannon my CCS, with their BS 4 ? And assuming it is to point heavy to give the lascannon a squad, I assume that I should go for a vanquisher to have a descent AT unit, shouldn't I ?

Alright I solved this problem. But I need some objectif holders, I already have a veteran squad so should I let the vets doing the objectif holding with the support of tanks and flyers or should I get some conscripts with a priest or a commissar. Any suggestions ?
