...but is it worth it?
Without Kinect, $400:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KAI3KW2?pf_rd_p=1807557882&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=6469269011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0WDJQQP2BD0S8DWJ66M8&ref_=acs_ux_hsb_5s_1_s_VG-XB1
With Kinect and Titanfall, $500:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Console-Titanfall-Bundle/dp/B00IIHU44E
Both are too pricey for me to be at all tempted given how excellently Titanfall runs on the 360. But I thought Kinect was required for the Xbox One to function, so it's interesting that they're offering it without the Kinect now.

XB1 can function without Kinect, but it's basically just a 360...
And honestly I would not give up the Kinect now as I've seen its implementation on Battlefield 4.

Is there any news on the price in Euros for the Kinect-less version?
If they, as with the "regular" One, just change the dollar sign into a €, it's not hard to guess, but let's hope they don't do that

I don't think it is utter balls but none of the motion controllers are everything they are cracked up to be. Fun novelties for certain types of games definitely but most players want to use a conventional controller most of the time.

I'm planning on buying an Xbox 1 next year when the price has dropped a little. The price point for the current gen consoles is still a little high for me. I'm the meantime I'm picking up a 360, 2nd hand of course, for a remarkable £65 from my local Game shop.
Of course, it helps that my brother's old 360 had died a death and I'm getting all his games and peripherals for nowt
As for the Kinect-less bundle.... Hmmmm, I never actually used the original Kinect, so I'm still open to its uses. I guess it would be ok for casual gamers. But I think I'll be giving it a miss.

I actually learned a really interesting line of reasoning behind this phenomenon a while back. Apparently in the EU all sales tax (VAT I believe it's called?) has to be included in the purchase price. In America the base listed price is before taxes. We have somewhere around an 8-12% sales tax on top of the price listed as the "sale price".

Worth it is kind of subjective. I'd certainly pick one up if it had any games I was interested in. However the only console release remotely on my radar right now is for the PS3 of all things.

Wait. In the US, tax isn't included in the price? That's odd.

In the US, it typically goes like this:
Add up the prices of all the items
That's your subtotal.
Add tax and shipping (if applicable)
That's your total.
It's awkward and leads to prices looking lower than they actually are.

Many people aren't paying taxes on Amazon purchases (not sure if that's good or bad, just pointing it out) or paying shipping (Amazon Prime), though.
By "worth it" I meant compared to the regular bundle. Both are too expensive for me, but if anything the regular Titanfall bundle might be a better deal if you were getting Titanfall anyway- you then get the Kinect for only $40 more.
But agreed with most here, too pricey either way!

For everyone, "worth it" is a different metric anyway. I already have an XBox 360, purchased mostly so that my nephews can play while they're over here. But now that I have it, I also purchased the Halo series-- albeit used from gamestop out of protest over the fact that Microsoft is apparently too afraid of money to release them on PC after the second one. But I don't see any benefit to "upgrading", since I'm mostly a PC player to begin with anyway. Someone who is more hardcore in to console gaming would find that their price threshold is much higher than mine.

Only for a certain value of some. Congress recently passed a law allowing states to charge their local sales tax on internet purchases made by citizens of those states. And a number of states have changed their laws to take advantage of that.
I actually learned a really interesting line of reasoning behind this phenomenon a while back. Apparently in the EU all sales tax (VAT I believe it's called?) has to be included in the purchase price. In America the base listed price is before taxes. It makes a certain amount of sense in the US, given advertising and lawsuits. Given that a number of cities and counties have their own sales tax rates in addition to the state taxes, advertising an item as a particular price after sales tax instead of before could cause all sorts of problems if the advertisement is for a chain that operates in cities with different sales tax rates.

Same price in $ as in €. Nice try, Microsoft.
Still: why bother getting a next-gen console? No interesting exclusives, poor hardware compared to a PC. You're much better off saving for a good computer.

I'm slowly starting to come round to this idea tbh.... I'm gaming a lot more on my Mac than a console at the moment anyway.

There's plenty of "fun uses for Kinect" in big name titles...and none of it really has anything to do with waving your hands or using your body as the controller.
Battlefield 4, as an example, uses Kinect to great effect.
As an example you can enable "head tracking" for while you're flying jets/helicopters and the Kinect will track allowing you to do something that previously required double buttons(left trigger+left stick would have the same effect) with just your head.
Another example is enabling "Kinect Lean" which actually utilizes the cover peeking mechanics based on movement from the player. Sensitivity can be set incredibly high(don't recommend this as it gets silly when simply adjusting your controller and the headset wires causes your character to cover peek like he's having a seizure) or relatively low to where you have to make a very exaggerated leaning motion.
And then of course there is the audio pick-up which is used for Squad Orders and can be used by Squad Leaders to 'communicate' with the Commander even if someone is in a party that you're not in.

The problem now is, with it not being standard and thus not having the guarantee that everyone will have it, support for it will drop, probably including those nice little touches like Battlefield 4. There's not much point developing the game or even feature if it's not going to get much use.

I wish I could say more, but a lot of the Kinect implementation that we will be seeing is small touches like that...and they're not going away from DICE's games.
Dead Rising has an interesting little bit as well where the microphone on the Kinect is kind of a 'cheat' for zombies in the game, as they can home in on you if you're too loud while playing the game.

I wasn't talking about just DICE's games. I was using the BF4 features as an example because you were also using them as an example, so there would be no confusion as to what sort of features I was talking about.
Regarding DICE, of course they won't go away. They're part of the BF4 engine, and the next few games will build on that engine, for better or worse.
I'm talking about future new games. Those features have less of a chance to make it into a game if the Kinect attach rate, now that it's gone solo, stays low.

I can tell you pretty confidently that is not true.
The Kinect features I mentioned, while they are elements of the gameplay, had to be programmed to work with the Kinect interaction.

Considering Microsoft has made developing for the Kinect pretty easy, I don't think so.
Now might they be prevalent in multi-platform titles? Not necessarily. But single platform titles definitely will have them.

Even with no Kinect, there's still no reason for me to want Microsoft's next big water cooler.
Got the Vita and PS3, and given the backlog of games I've yet to finish I'd say I'm good for another year or 2 before I get a next gen console like the PS4 when it comes down in price.

Ummm... I said that? I said that's why they're not going away. They're there. The programming is done. There's no reason to get rid of that as long as they're recycling the engine.

Time will tell. Personally, I'm betting against the Kinect getting anything significant in terms of support unless the attach rate stays pretty high compared to console sales.
