Tough Tyrant Guard

Hi all,

I am exploring small-scale Tyranid lists, particularly for general PuG (and doubles) games, and am looking for something well-rounded and strong. 1000 points feels a bit low to convincingly run FMC spam, and that might be a step too hardcore for PuGs, so I'm looking at the Living Artillery Node instead and have come up with the following.

Hive Tyrant (Warlord)
Wings, 2x twin-linked Brainleech Devourers, Electroshock Grubs
240

Venomthrope
45

Tervigon
Electroshock Grubs
195

30x Termagants
Fleshborers
120

Living Artillery Node

3x Tyranid Warriors
2x Devourers, 1x Barbed Strangler
100

Exocrine
170

3x Biovores
120

Total 1000

What do we think? Aside from the Tyrant it's quite slow (and this means the Tyrant has to be used carefully against foes with lots of AA), but aside from that it seem fairly resilient with very good firepower. The Electroshock Grubs are something I've taken to bringing for their anti-vehicle strength, especially against Knights (I've actually wasted a healthy Knight in a single turn with it charging into combat with that Tervigon in cover, flaying Hull Points with the Overwatch and then finishing it with a Smash Attack) but they are generally useful too, though I do like Electroshock Grubs just as much...

Looks good!... Please let us know how it works in practice.

Late entry: The special rules for the Formation gives "pinning"....(I think ) so you should run a Venom Cannon on the Warrior Brood inside the formation
