I think a few things need to be explained first...
My opponent often brings Lysander as a HQ choice, and also likes to use Sternguard. He typically plays 5th ed's parking lot game, and loves lascannon spam. He's also an Ultrasmurf, so Lysander stands in as captain Agemann from the 1st company.
I have only one Heldrake, and I'm not going to get any more, so I'm not looking for suggestions on how many to bring of those.
My plan is to use my traitor IG to smack him in the face with as much firepower as I can, and then deepstrike in Abaddon in a unit of terminators. The termies have been given the mark of slaanesh and the icon of excess to give Abby a FnP save. The +1 initiative is there for my champion to be used as challenge fodder, and come out on top against all except Lysander, who I will throw Abby at.

I would drop the power fists on the terminators, as you can just take axes to deal with AP2, and still wound T4 on a 3+, which is usually good enough.

Why not take a tank commander over a lord commissar? Put em in the vanquisher, and take the other tanks as squadmates. Consider smoke launchers to shoot and shroud, so you have a save against the lascannons.

If you have spare points, hand out boltguns to sarges. Might want to just run the vets on foot, maybe with a primaris psyker.

I feel if he's using lascannon spam that vehicles should just be outright avoided. Why not go blob IG?

BTW I love that you're using an abbadon deathsquad.

The power axe idea might work.
For tank commanders, I don't really have the right LRBT's yet to make that work, I'd need to get another LRBT box and decide between Vanq or Battlecannon. I would like to do that, I could remove the two chimeras to make space for it.

Ty - I love the idea of giving Lysander a taste of his own medicine, the pompous guy has beaten me too many times now, and needs a good clawed fist up his backside.

If I had the models, I would certainly consider blob guard. I could then take a load of weapons teams to make those tanks cry
Atm, I've been preparing a mech IG list, and this lot just came to mind while working out how to get a 1500 list from 999 pts worth of models.

Had a test game at around 750 with my IG against some necrons, the guy called my list "leafblower cheese" at the end. Left me with some confidence.

Well if you've got to take armor, try to negate those lascannons with camo netting (Thats an upgrade right? +1 to cover save?) and hide em behind ruins for a 3+ cover save. Deepstrike in on those lascannons with abby and free up your tanks to roll around roflstomping

The list looks pretty good to me considering you probably don't have lots of cash to throw around.

Also what kind of terrain do you normally use (like LOS blocking or just GW trees giving a 5+)?

If I'm at my opponent's house, almost nothing. A couple of craters, some rocks etc..
I have a couple of ruins that block LOS, and a couple of trenches and some tall grass.

In that case just target his lascannon tanks first (duh).

Lascannons arent so great with dealing with high av. They need a 6 just to pen av14. just dont give them side armor and if anything Try to get some sort of cover save.

Also to whoever said take smoke launchers on the russes to get a cover save, they come stock with them.
