Hey all, I don't own the Knight Codex and was wondering whether the Necron Entropic Strike would work on a Knight, or any other super-heavy.

I was wondering if there was a special rule with super-heavies that would prevent them from being effected by this ability?

I don't have the Imperial Knight codex, but there's a rule in the Escalation book that states something to the effect that anything that permanently reduces armor facing will not work against Super Heavies....Entropic Strike falls into that category, so no dice Escalation-wise.

...wonder if this will stay the same in 7th...

IIRC, anything that permanently reduces AV (such as ES) does not work. Anything that only temporarily reduces AV (such as Lance weapons) do work.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Wow, that was quick, thanks for the prompt and factual reply jasper and HJ.

Glad to help. As a Necronj player, I was really bummed about this when Escalation came out.

Maybe you can tell me then jasper, caan Entropic Strike kill a building?

What would the result be if a building reaches 0 armour?

I honestly do not recall, and I don't have the BRB or the Strongholds Assault book on me at the moment, so I won't give you a guess.

Hopefully someone else can come along and give you an answer.

Look at the thread "Gauss and Buildings". I think you'll find your answer there.

Basic Rule Book contains instructions stating Buildings can not be destroyed, the worse that can occur to them is being turned into Impassable Terrain. Now I am away from my books as well so I can't say for sure what occurs when the Armour Value of a Building reaches 0, but I do believe there has to be something within the Building section of the Basic Rule Book which addresses this. That is because I have vague memories of a Damage Result which lowers the Armour Value, so it stands to reason there would be some sort of instruction on what occurs when the building reaches 0, but I can't guarantee because I don't have books to review.

Should there be a lack of such instructions then you have your answer:
The building is not made impassable, removed from play, or anything else because nothing tells us to... it sits there as a death trap.

Not kidding on the death trap thing as building with an Armour Value of 0 will ensure that every shot against the building causes penetrations. Not only will the Unit inside have to soak a large number of Wounds, thanks to the fact any damage to the building create Wounds to the Unit inside, but the Penetration Results generated will likely explode, collapse or otherwise generates even more Wounds thanks to the number of Rolls being made. I don't even like putting my Units into tin buildings, starting Armor Value 9, because those things can be destroyed by lasguns and I would stay clear of a Building which a thrown rock will collapse....

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

If the AV of a building is reduced to 0, it suffers a Total Collapse.

Saves me having to look it up when I get home.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"
