I tried posting in the Army List section, but I got no answer. This is what I posted...

Help me create a competitive 1750 CSM/Daemons list for a tournament.

I will list for you the models that I currently am in possession of.

1x Bloodthirster - 300pts
1x Daemon Prince - 270pts
1x Bloodletters (20 members) - 245pts
1x Chaos Lord - 150pts
2x Cultists (10 members each) - 120pts
1x Chosen (6 members) - 168pts
1x Possessed (5 members) - 180pts
1x Helbrute - 105 pts
1x Bikers (3 members) - 126 pts
1x Rhino - 70 pts
1x Maulerfiend - 135pts

In my possession but either unconstructed or uncalculated...

1x Lord of Skulls
1x Terminator Lord
1x Terminator Squad (5 members)
1x Warp Talons/Raptors (5 members)
1x Tactical Marines (10 members)

I play quite fluffily normally, but I want to do reasonably well in this tournament too. I play mono-Khorne, and I also play WYSIWYG, so the kit on a lot of my models is set in stone. I'm just looking for a general overview of what models are best to take. I would like to take my Bloodletters as even though they're not the greatest, they are the models I am most happy with the paint job of so far, and I'd like to show them off. I am tempted to bring my Lord of Skulls, both because he hasn't seen any action yet, and it is a formidable weapon, but at such a high points cost, if I lose him, I have very little else. What do you think?

Sorry man but you are lacking in the units that can make CM somewhat competetive (Noise Marines, Plague Marines, oblits) and the unit that can make them OP (2 or 3 heldrakes).

The daemon models you (bloodthirster and bloodletters) are probably the worst of their respective FOC slots.

There are other lists out there that are somewhat workable but they rely on things that you dont have (biker lord with Axe of blinding fury with a unit of spawn).

Not trying to be mean, but just pointing out why you probably didnt get any responses. The models you have cannot a competitive army make.

If you're going to run a Maulerfiend, run two or more for them to be effective.

Why is your rhino 79pts?

You have too many random units. Focus on something, like fast attack, armor saturation or a plague troops.

Have redundancy of units, more than one each.

They are the only models that I have, and I won't be buying any more until I have everything fully painted.

I know it's not the most competitive list, and I don't expect to win the tournament, but I'd like to get past the first round.

Should I use the Lord of Skulls? It doesn't give me much room for anything else.

I have "random" models because I like to have variety in my army; I don't want two of the same thing, it's kind of boring.

With that mindset I think you'd do much better with Warmachine, not 40k.

Does the event allow super heavies? Most don't.

Redundancy in 40k is important, because the other guy is going to be killing your stuff and if you need a unit to do a job, you need to bring more than one most of the time.

You also need units that work together. Combined arms is still viable in this game, and for some lists, its crucial.

But MWHistorian's right, you need to pick something to do well, and run with it. What you have is a sampler platter of units, and any army you build with it is going to get eaten like one.

I much prefer the 40k aesthetic and background though, plus my group plays 40k.

The tournament will allow super heavies. The organisers have been egging me on to bring my Lord of Skulls as nobody has played one in our group in a long time.

Have you guys got any suggestions at all based on what I have?

Well feel free to play it but depending on what kinda people are around, you may be forever labeled a TFG.

Happened to me when i was tolled by the TO to go full ham :/

Personally i think you should go a fluffy bull rush korn list.
Kit everything out for CC wreckage and have fun.

Unfortunately I got nothing. 40k isn't really a game where a great player can overcome a far superior list (in general.) But basically you're fighting a very steep uphill battle. Your opponent will have to mess up horribly and you'll have to play brilliantly. There's no real getting away from that. 40k is an unbalanced mess and armies like yours will suffer for it.

People always complain about spam lists, so I wanted to do something different. Oh well, thanks for the help guys.

You dont have to play spam, but people don't consider things like 3 units of plague marines in rhinos spam. And no one is going to call foul on 3 Forgefiends (who are about to get scarier in 7th).

Yeah....Khorne kinda sucks right now... Which pretty much killed my dad's CSM Berzerker list....

Though Khornate daemons have a scary list in Flesh Hound spam, but well ya know....spam

I'm still stuck with what I actually own anyway, and I have a few unpainted things so I've made a pledge to myself to finish what I have before I get new things.
